A new boardwalk East of I-35 on the south side has added a whole new experience to walking Town Lake. This is not as congested as the part west of Congress Bridge and you can enjoy walking the lake literally because the boardwalk takes you through some beautiful shaded paths on the water. Lots of parking east, or start at I-35 and walk. Would definitely recommend going in the morning to watch the sunrise.

It was a HOT weekend over the 4th of July and we decided to cool off at Town Lake. We rented kayaks and had a great time paddling around this section of the river. The river was busy with other kayakers and SUPs but it was still a lot of fun. While the kayak rental place didn't allow swimming, I saw a lot of people jumping out of their canoes or paddleboards to cool off. Definitely a fun outdoor activity in an urban setting.

Great lake - lots of room, but can get a wee bit crowded in parts. Lake has so many different types of watercrafts - canoes, water bikes, kayaks and some people on stand up water boards! Great fun day out - watch out for the Texas sun - it's hot out there!

Town Lake, aka Lady Bird Lake, is NOT for swimming. There are all kinds of debris at the bottom of the lake, including old buildings and all of their materials- rebar, concrete. It's also quite dirty. In fact, the closer you get to the water, the greater the stench. If you want to canoe or run the track, then this is your place. Just remember, this is Texas. It gets hot and the stench gets worse.

After having breakfast downtown on Sunday mornings, my daughter and I take a walk around the lake. What a great way to get some exercise and have a nice talk. Great way to spend a morning.
