Owner description: Over the years, people have come to this 1,000 foot long natural limestone pool, fed by several underground springs, for everything from fishing and swimming to baptisms and beauty pageants.

We cooled off quickly at Barton Springs after biking around Austin. The place is well set up for changing and swimming. The entrance fee is low. Shaded seating space was limited to a patch of steep hillside when we went, but there are plenty of other shaded areas in the nearby parks for before or after a dip in the springs.

Texas is hot. Barton Springs is cool, literally and figuratively. Austin folks love this place, visitors are welcome, but please be respectful, and, well, cool. Check out the nearby hiking trails on a cooler day.

I love this place! Don't go expecting your typical suburban crowd. This is one of the reasons I love to take my 'suburban' kids here. We love to go here as a family and enjoy to raw beauty of Barton Springs.

This place is a must do, especially on a hot Austin day. The water is a cool 68 degrees, so be prepared. It is a beautiful place and you see all kinds of people. This is a religion for some Austinites. There is food just outside the gate, hamburgers and such. Catch a Zilker Park summer play in the evening too. Both make for a great day.

Pool is of course freezing but beautiful. Such a nice oasis. Price was fair but really bummed there was no place to just hang out and relax. Forced to feel a bit rushed since no place to sit. We actually went to the park and came back a second time, park close. Fee gets you in and out. Bring water shoes. Slippery and of course rocky floor.
