“Exceeded expectations, great for business travel”
Reviewed 16 February 2013 via mobile

Check in was easy, loved the prior to arrival email from the concierge. Facilities were excellent, food served at the course was good. Rooms were spacious and appreciated all the energy efficient amenities. Shower had great water pressure and bed was very comfortable. I used the workout room, walked the courtyard, and met fellow colleagues in the evening at Gabriel's. Minutes away from the Harry Ransom Center (Gutenberg Bible), The Texas History Museum and the Texas Tower. Really enjoyed the 5 days I was here.

Certainly not the most luxurious hotel I've every stayed in, but I'd call it very nice. Not a knock on the property, as the purpose is more geared for executive education and conference business associated with UT School of Business.

The rooms were large and came with everything you'd expect from a decent hotel. I was there for an executive education class, so went to dinner by myself. I tried to eart at the "high end" restaurant, but they weren't taking walk ins, so I went to the cafe and was pleasantly surprised. I had the Salmon with pesto sause and chick pea salad and both were excellent. The service was excellent. In fact, the service throughout the Hotel was supurb: I believe the employees are in the school of business studying hospitality. Really excellent, four seasons caliber staff. It was a treat.

There were a couple of small, small things that kept me from giving it an excellent rating, however. First, the bed was either not a high caliber bed, or I was simply not used to it's composition. In either case, it wasn't very comfortable. The second issue was the gym. It was small. One of the 3 treadmills wasn't working, and the others were occupied, so I worked out with free-weights and the training machines, one of which was not working. Overall I had to stretch my imagination to get a workout in with the small space and machinery that was provided. In the grand scheme of things, those two issues feel like I'm splitting hairs, but they were the difference, for me, between very good and excellent.

We have stayed here a number of times and would return. You can't beat the location right on campus and the elements of burnt-orange in the decor would make any Longhorn feel right at home.

The lobby is large and airy with plenty of space for groups of people to meet and chat, particularly the area behind the front desk.

Rooms are comfortable and sparkling clean. Beds are comfy and wifi is good. We did have a problem with the TV and internet at first--there are issues with the AT&T system--but a staff person came right up and fixed it promptly.

We have tried the restaurants a few times and been very disappointed. The food was overpriced and completely uninspiring with few healthy options. One notable exception to that was breakfast which was excellent.

The property has underground parking which is great but I really miss the shuttle that they used to offer for local trips. It was such a nice feature because you could abandon the car and get to nearby sights that were a bit too far for walking. I wish they would bring the shuttle back!

Having stayed here a number of times, I've noticed that the prices for the rooms vary greatly. If you come during a quiet time, the rooms are often a very good value. If you are in town when there is a Longhorn game, the room rates will be dear if you can find a room there at all!

Room Tip: This is a large building and some of the rooms can be quite a hike. If someone in your room has mobi...

I stayed here while attending executive training which was held on the premises. The rooms are extremely comfortable. I love the open area in the middle of the buildings. It's a great place for breakfast, coffee, or meeting travel partners. The bar (Gabriel's) had decent drink prices and good service. I have also been here for a wedding reception which was held in the ballrooms and it was wonderful due to the great facilities and service.

Room Tip: I recommend the Tower View rooms as they have a great view for very little extra $$.

We stayed here for a short meeting trip. The rooms are clean and comfortable, a step up from the average at this price point. Excellent service from the staff. The restaurants are quite good. Overall nice experience.

Breakfast was nice and the Bar was busy.

Stayed here while visiting UT. I do not know the rate as UT booked and paid for the room.
My room was new and clean and reminiscent of a Westin room. It had similar linens and similar scented shampoos (white tea). There was a lush terry robe hanging in the closet. The bed did not feel quite as nice as the Westin heavenly bed but still it was good. I would say the room was very similar to a higher quality Westin or Hyatt or Hilton. The fitness center (pictured) was not large but had a decent assortment of cardio equipment, stack weights, and free weights. I used all of these. The floor of the fitness center has the long horn logo in the tiles. I had breakfast in the restaurant (not the buffet) and this was also very nice. I do not know if they have room service I did not try to order anything. Free wifi worked fine. Overall an excellent property I would stay here again if visiting UT.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room and got a high floor inner courtyard room that was quiet. Although it had...
