Window from room was dirty outside. Difficult to enjoy the outside view. Door from bathroom was damage in the inner side. It gave us bad impression about cleanness. Elebators look old and not maintained properly. They lack of good finished for a hotel at this price. At the breakfast room, my wife asked the waiter to remove a small dead cockroach that was bside the table. It was possible to see several around in the floor. Nobody took care of cleaning the room. Again, lack of cleanness. If the valet parking is not used, nobody cares about helping with luggage. It gave us a bad impression about service.

We had a relaxing stay at this resort. It is similar to a beach resort without the beach. Great cabana drinks and service. Nice rooms for an old hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great breakfast tacos in the coffee bar. Wonderful fitness facility with all types of machines and classes. We would stay here again!

I want to start this review with the caveat that I am not a golfer. If you are a golfer and this is your mecca, then by all means you should go. The courses looked beautiful. If you are a golfer, think twice and three times before taking a spouse. This hotel is VERY, VERY far from all the cool things that Austin has to offer.

The weekend started with a $25 valet charge, which is annoying. The place is in the middle of nowhere and there was enough "space" for multiple golf courses, yet there's no room for a parking lot? Second day we found the parking garage, which is a hike down the hill and fills up to capacity, but at least there is an option.

The elevators near the front desk and our rooms were a joke. One looked like it hadn't worked in years and the other would often stop 8 inches too low or too high for the floor. Really?

There is nothing to do this far out from Austin. You will be stuck at the resort or have to drive into town for shopping, restaurants, activities.

The resort itself had a lot of kids the weekened we were there. This is terrific if you have kids and want them to have playmates at the pool. This is not great if you are an adult trying to enjoy the very small pool without kids running around.

Service at the pool included food and was provided by hard-working kids who did a fabulous job.

The room itself was just okay. There was mold in the shower and ants on the bathroom counter. It's August in Texas, so I guess these things happen. The view from our room was of a roof of an adjacent building and our friends overlooked the valet parking lot. The "resort" is in a beautiful part of Texas, yet there was no consideration of views when planning the rooms.

I think in the end it comes down to whether you live for golf. I think the golfers enjoyed the place (although you can't drink enough water in August to avoid dehydration and cramps.) Avoid this place like the plague if you don't golf or want an alternative activity.

We stayed here over the Labor Day weekend and we have stayed here in the past. The hotel is very good - rooms are reasonably well appointed, and there is stuff to do for the kids. That said, and in line with some of the other comments, the place does look as though it could do with an update in places. The golf is great, the restaurants are good and the quality of food is worth coming back for. Breakfast selection is very good and the staff are helpful. The downside - the hotel is very noisy, we could hear everything that was going on through the wall in our room, the doors all slam shut and the kids running up and down the hallway is not great. I don't expect perfect silence but it lets this place down when you can hear so much.

I checked in for a weekend mental health break and that is exactly what I was given at at Barton Creek. The hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly and professional. They addressed me by name and made sure I was kept abreast of all the activities that were occurring on the premises for the holiday weekend (i.e. happy hours, spa services available for all patrons, DJ, lunch buffets, activities for kids, etc.). My room was immaculate and smelled good. I had a beautiful view of the golf course and the Texas hill country. It was a very refreshing and relaxing experience. The pool was a nice retreat with great drink service. They were even bring out cold water on a consistent basis to keep us hydrated. Fresh clean towels provided with plenty of chairs, tables and umbrellas to go around. The restaurants were 5 star with delicious and taste-bud bursting fare. The spa was amazing. I had a lava clay body wrap which penetrated warmth deep into my aching muscles followed by a hot sauna session and seat in the tranquility room looking at the cavern wall it opens up to. It was an overall very pleasant experience. If you are looking for a trip to clear your head and just relax this is a great place to consider. I went by myself and I felt like a queen.
