One of the prettiest places in Texas. Great for meetings, and I imagine it would be equally good for a weekend getaway. But it's a bit pricey, and the layout of the main building is somewhat confusing for a newcomer.

I am a member of an association which booked 200 attendees for 3-4 days at this property for a convention. I paid $550 a night for a king room with no balcony, one tiny sink in a minuscule bathroom with poor lighting. The room was large but the carpet damp, old and grungy. One of only 2 elevators servicing my end of the hotel worked the entire time and the hotel was booked solid. Good thing I was on the second floor because I walked the stairs most of the time.

Also, all of my colleagues (I brought 3 others to the conference) had balconies, double sinks and large bathrooms while paying between one-half the price I paid, and I had one of the worst rooms in the resort. I reported this to the front desk and no accommodation was made. Nothing offered. Just a "sorry". Ridiculous. An adjustment to the bill or moving me to another room befitting of the $550 rate should have been offered.

In addition, it took us 6 hours to play golf because the pro shop overbooked 3 scramble groups on the course. It was the slowest pace of play of my golfing life, jeopardizing our conference dinner time. It was completely unacceptable. Again, no accommodations were made. Nothing.

On the bright side, the resort has a fantastic, huge fitness center, a decent (but not large) sized pool, and has wonderful views. The food at the pool was very good and the conference facilities were adequate.

This hotel needs about $50 million in upgrades to common areas, bathrooms, carpeting, etc. and needs to send the staff to the Ritz Carlton training program. Only then will this resort live up to its potential.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room with double sinks in bath. Otherwise, you will end up with a poorly lit, tiny bathroom.

We sincerely appreciate you providing valuable feedback about your recent stay at our resort. It was very disappointing for us to learn that you felt your experience wasn't as pleasant as you had anticipated. We will continue to work on improving all aspects of our resort and hope you will reconsider coming back in the future for a stay more in-line with what you are accustomed to.

Two times during my stay, the hotel charged expenses that were not disclosed. Tennis - $25 court rental and $20 for two racquets. Spoke with rude attendant at tennis desk about lack of disclosure on fees prior to use. Was met with indifference because "[the hotel] charges everyone those costs." When asked about disclosure, I was directed to the guest book in my room, but there is no mention of cost/fees there either. Ultimately, both charges were reversed by Asst. Mgr. Rommy who was extremely pleasant and apologetic. Upon departure from the hotel, a colleague used the hotel shuttle to the airport with other guests. Each was charged $47 for that trip. The first time my colleague learned of the cost was nearly upon arrival at the airport and then only because another guest mentioned a cost. Conversely, the SPA staff was amazingly helpful (as was Asst. Mgr. Rommy). When explaining the amenities of the fitness center, they mentioned "boot camp" class which my wife was interested in attending. Immediately, the spa staff informed her of a $20 fee for attending. Bottom line: We don't mind paying fees for various amenities, but guests should be informed of charges prior to incurring them. Being charged by ambush is unacceptable. It certainly changed the flavor of our stay.

How does a company take a nice setting and make everyone who comes there feel bad? Well, OMNI Barton Creek has done just that. From arrival at a cramped and unkept front door to departure with bell staff standing around talking to each other, they did it. The place just reeked of "We don't care". Our furnishings are worn and a little dirty. "We don't care". No one on the staff will greet you? "We don't care". Common areas closed, dingey, untrimmed, dirty, worn, and ragged? "We don't care." Not everything was terrible, but everything that the people who worked there touched was pretty bad. Bottom line is that this a poorly managed place. If they don't care, why should you go there? You shouldn't.
