I've gone to the newly re-opened Zeds. Once for lunch and today for brunch! Great food and service. Our server today was a bit slow but I was celebrating a dear friend's birthday so it did not matter. Can't wait to go for happy hour! Don't miss this restaurant if you're driving on I-35. For Austinites it's worth the drive!

Great meal with fantastic service. Even in mid-November we sat outside (near a hear lamp) and it was perfect. The ambiance was trendy and inviting without being snobby. The service was spot on - not too overbearing or too absent. Simple entrees in the salmon and bacon-wrapped scallops, which were both delicious. As an appetizer, we gobbled up the grilled artichoke that was delish w a dipping sauce I could have bathed in. It was a tad pricy, but not a turnoff. Overall, a great North Austin gem.

Not amazed but not disappointed.
Zed' was quiet on a Tuesday night. Service was slow as the servers seemed to be relaxing. The food was good but not outstanding.
Chicken fried chicken was recommended and crispy and juicy. Potatoes were a little cool.
All in all, better than a chain.

Went to Zed Tuesday 29 / 10 the welcome was extremely friendly, the waiter was attentive, friendy and had a good product knowledge. we both ordered the Fish and Chips which consisted of two very small pieces of white fish (Cod?) that had been literally lathered in batter and arrived on the plate looking like two dark brown turds. the 'Chips' were an assemblage of thin (shoestring) fries which had absolutely no resemblance to English 'Chips' all in all a catastrophic fail on the fish and chips.
The redeeming values are the ambiance, 4 star, the waiter excellent ... I would even give it a second try with something else on the menu...

Mr. Zed, get the fish 'n chips off the menu.... you, and the rest of the US cannot do a decent fish 'n chips.

Curiously enough, the best so far in Austin is the Fish 'n Chips at Red Robin. Just nip across the road and buy theirs, they are close enough!

Written sans rancoeur.

The newly refurbished "Zed's" restaurant is such a great find! We happened upon it on their 2nd day open. The grilled artichoke appetizer is incredible. The Zed's salad (with grilled salmon added) was so good we went twice to have it! Their fish and chips is light and crunchy. Their desserts are awesome - real root beer float, bread pudding created by Mike the manager, and a gluten free chocolate cake that is impossible to tell any difference. The staff is awesome - especially Michael the waiter, Febe the waitress, and Michael the manager. Actually, every server that we met is exceptional and it's obvious that they have been put through extensive training. They know the menu and they are so kind and helpful. We loved meeting them all.
