When in Austin, this is a place you must visit. This museum was perfectly designed and has been expertly arranged to entertain and inform. It has everything -- interactives, I-Max, full-sensory theatre. It is well worth a stop.

Visited mid morning, mid summer so no school kids or large groups were present as with most museums. The floor plan is well laid out, lots of space between exhibits, well lit, well maintained, some hands-on exhibits, lots of places to sit and rest...iMax theatre available as well at an additional cost, but relatively inexpensive...a nice way to step out of the Texas heat!

we check in to see what's new at the museum frequently. went to see the "1968" exhibit this weekend. Well worth the $12.Esp. if you were born before 1968. (we were!). lots of memories. the exhibit is laid out very well. from history to pop culture to politics. it's a great outing for those born after 1968 to get a brief history of a very, very important time in our nation's history. I.E. Vietnam, MLK being killed. Bobby Kennedy being killed, woman's liberation and all the iconic TV shows (star trek HELLO) and movies (2001 a space odyssey).

It not only has a wonderful history of the state, but docents, in costume, who are happy to give you even more in depth information. The museum is totally worth a visit for grownups or children. We spent several hours there and didn't see everything. I would go again and I think children would really enjoy it as well. We didn't have time to see the IMAX show, would try to see that next time.
