Owner description: Trendy Austin area south of Congress Avenue.

This is a vibrant area in South Austin characterised by individual, quirky shops and some great restaurants. There is also an abundance of great 50s style neon signs and artwork on the sides of buildings.

The shops sell everything from vintage clothes, unusual items, encrusted animal horns to cowboy boots and hats.

Not to be missed as part of Austin's legendary "weird"!

SoCo is an interesting street with with alternative shops nestled next to more traditional ones selling cowboys boots and hats. For those travelling from the UK it is more Camden that Covent Garden.

We had an excellent time on South Congress! There are a lot of great food places to eat in addition for shopping. The only bad thing about this was that there aren't any bathrooms around. Check out SoCo Cafe!

I think it is a happening place. There are great hotels, shops, artist stalls and markets on some Thursdays and Sundays, interesting stores, and boutiques. It is fun to stroll, look, and see funny things.

Super-fun area to explore - unique shops, good restaurants & bars and family-friendly (for teenagers at least).
