Every once in awhile you find a restaurant that makes your heart sing. Truluck's is this place. Beautiful ambiance, nice views of Austin's downtown bustle, gracious, friendly and professional service, and divine food. Worth every penny. Bo was our server for the evening and took great care of us from beginning to end. Attentive service from the host to the Maitre De to a server who saw us looking around and came over immediately to see if we needed something. It's exactly the perfect meal that everyone dreams of having when they eat out.
We began with the Oysters Rockefeller. These were hands-down the best we've ever had. They were light and delicate and perfectly broiled. We discussed just ordering plate after plate of these and skipping the main course. But then thought the better of that idea. So
we had the redfish and the trout. I added a Bernaise sauce to mine that had crab and shrimp. They both were excellent, but mine was more delicious, with the sauce elevating it to incredible. Every bite was memorable and made my tastebuds extremely happy.
They brought us chocolate bread pudding with a flaming cherry jubilee. Quite impressive looking and very thick. The scoop of vanilla ice-cream added a nice moisture to the mix and put it over the top. As it was an impromptu birthday celebration, (Russell had let them know in advance) they taken the time to write my name in chocolate on the plate. How very thoughtful..and yummy!
This restaurant has the fine details of dining and welcoming down to a fine art. We've eaten at many top star places over the years, but this one wins the award for best all-around dining.
