It is a place I keep coming back to every time I am in Austin. The food is great and for the price you can't beat it. It is an old ironworks shop, hence the name, behind the convention center. You line up and wait your turn, it can take ten minutes, especially during lunch time, and order from a window that lets you peek into the kitchen. Great selection of beer. The pies are very good too

Our tour guide at the state capitol recommended the place when I asked where to find the "taste" of Austin. He proclaimed it great BBQ. We found it less than that. We tried the pork ribs and the beef briscuit. The ribs had a dry run and were rather flavorless. They were also not very tender, a little tough. The briscuit was cooked well, but lacking flavor. There was only one type of BBQ sauce available, and it was a vinegar based, sauce, better than nothing but totally unremarkable. They didn't offer any options on the sides, both plates came with pinto beans, seasoned with a bit of chilli pepper but otherwise tasteless and potato salad, which was acceptable. It also came with a slice of white bread, and some pickles and onions sliced up. Personally the onion was my favorite part of the meal. It wasn't BAD, but it was certainly nothing special. That meal, two plate lunches and two bottles of water, cost just under $30. Well worth it if it had been good, but highly overpriced for what we got
