On our last night in Austin, and indeed in the USA, we wanted a good steak restaurant. Our waitress earlier in the day reinforced what we had already heard about this restaurant from an Austin-based friend of our son. My husband wandered along earlier in the day to book a table and was asked whether we were celebrating anything, to which he said,'no'.
When he arrived that evening a little early (I arrived on time!), he had had time to think and he remembered that a week later would be our 38th wedding anniversary, so he told the girl at the desk. When I arrived, we were ushered to a fantastic table in a booth where we looked out at the other diners and the musicians. I was a bit taken aback when the waiter said, 'Happy Anniversary', but then my husband explained what he had said.
We had a wonderful meal - unhurried but not slow, the waiter recommended a wine, our seafood was delicious and cooked to perfection and our shared dessert came on a plate on which had been written in chocolate sauce,'Happy Anniversary'. We would definitely return.

This not being my first or even 20th visit to Eddie Vs on 5th in Austin, it’s still none-the-less worthy of a short review.

Reservations were made on OpenTable. If you travel, you really need this app.

Seating was within 10 minutes of arriving and just getting a nice lemon martini mixed perfectly by Jeff in the bar. Then off to our table that Tisha had waiting for us. Just a note before I go any further. If you don’t read anything else, ask for Tisha, the food will be fantastic, but if you get a lame server, that will ruin the night. You won’t with Tisha. Top, professional server that only the likes of Eddie V’s can give you.
The baby wedge with bacon and grape tomatoes was as advertised and perfect. Now onto the main course. It was their 22oz Bone-in Ribeye medium rare. Of course it was perfectly seasoned, seared, crusted and cooked. But something I’ve always passed over was toppings. Tonight I decided to venture out of the normal and ordered it “carpet bagged”. That accompaniment tops your steak with 5 large fresh oysters; deep fried in a crumbly, delicious batter with a nice portion side of their Béarnaise. And added sautéed mushrooms.
An absolute divine meal in itself. The jazz trio, a great bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape and a wonderful server made this dinner and evening another great experience at Eddie V’s.

This place used to be great - When it's slammed the quality drops. Do not order food while seated in the bar. It's totally different from the actual dinning room.

This was the most amazing restaurant I have ever been to. There was approximately 20 people in our group and we were waited on by an awesome wait staff. The atmosphere was family friendly with an upscale vibe. The meal we were served was fresh and properly prepared. We all tried each others appetizers and took bites off each others plates and loved them all. I had the center cut filet mignon oscar style...it was melt in your mouth amazing. The crab cakes are all crab meant cooked to perfection! Our bill was well over $1200.00......but definitely worth it. Can't wait to go back and eat their again.
