We stayed here b/c of a convention - we paid a lot so we thought it would be pretty nice - we were very wrong! First we got to our room where there was no pull out couch like we ordered. We call down to the front desk 3 times and after hearing he "wasn't sure he had a roll away bed and there was no way we could switch rooms " we were pretty frustrated. So we came to the decision at 1:15AM screw it we are going out and buying an iinflatable bed. We had to ask for extra beding 2 times so by the time it finally came we were exhausted! There is no free breakfast so after msking our own we needed a stop from housekeeping. We had to "specially" request it. Needless to say we will NOT be coming back!

Dear Hope F,

We certainly would like to apologize that we failed to meet your expectations on your recent stay. I'll provide my contact information below in hopes that you will contact me to discuss things further.

To begin, reservations are based on room type which includes a standard king, king executive, and standard double. While some of our king rooms have pullout sleeper sofas, it isn't a bookable room type. However, we certainly do our best to accommodate every guests' request and preference. I do apologize if we couldn't accommodate your request to move rooms due to high hotel occupancy or provide you with a roll-away bed if you were already in a room with two beds (due to City of Austin Fire Code).

While the Holiday Inn Express does include a continental breakfast, the full-service Holiday Inn's do not include it in their standard rate. However, their are rate options which allow you to add it into your rate. As per housekeeping, our guests never have to specially request it. Though fluctuations in occupancy and staffing levels may delay the time that housekeeping comes to your room between days, our housekeeping staff does not leave until every room is serviced.

Again, I hope you will contact me to further discuss your experience during your stay and allow me the opportunity to better address it with our staff and make things right.

we stayed there just for one night and didn't spend much time in the room but when we did it was good. comfortable bad, good bath (a little small but ok) and welcoming customer service. we asked to extend our check out time as long as possible and got some extra time. it's right off the Hwy, 10 minutes drive to the capitol building and university and a walking distance to highland mall. all in all, it was a good choice for a good price, and I advise you to try!

Overall great hotel experience. Place was very clean and the pillows were a nice touch. The bartender Josh was knowledgeable and as friendly as can be. Him alone will bring me back. The front desk staff was very polite and the house keepers were approachable and friendly. Great work team!

property is decent. really good when you consider its age. but the highlight was a great happy hour beer selection (with local and regional micros) and helpful suggestions for local attractions from our bartender, Joshua.

We stayed here for one night on a short family vacation. Me, my wife and my two kids (14 and 12). This hotel has no breakfast included and is not in a very good area. Accommodations are nice enough, but not a good value, even had to pay for coffee in the lobby. There is a restaurant in the building, but it's certainly not cheap. There is a Greyhound bus station directly across the street, and that seems to keep "less than desirable" people in the area. Also, this property is located adjacent to a large indoor mall, that is now abandoned and boarded up. There used to be a Sheppler's western store across the street, and it has also been closed and boarded up. I cannot see any reason that anyone would stay here, there are many, many better options for the price within just a few miles proximity. You should go elsewhere. The only reason I didn't give this property "one circle", is because it has been refurbished on the interior, and inside is pretty nice.

Dear Ziplineboss,

Thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown and taking some time to share your sentiment with fellow travelers. I recognize that we didn’t meet your expectations and would like to briefly address some of the things you mentioned.
At the time of booking, our guests have the option to choose from a wide range of rates & packages – some of which include breakfast. We encourage our prospective guests to pick the package that best suits their needs. For some, that is flexibility; with others, value or with breakfast or bonus points options. To your point, we do not offer a complimentary continental breakfast unlike limited service brands. Rather, our property features a full service restaurant with a la carte menu options, an All-American buffet, and a room service option for those guests who like to have breakfast in bed.
Regarding the area, the hotel is centrally located to the many attractions that the capital city of Texas has to offer. Indeed, a 15 minute drive or less gets you to 6th street, the State Capital, Longhorn stadium, and several shopping outlets. While we cannot control Shepplers’ decision to move their store down the street, or the ongoing renovations at the Highland Mall (it’s neither abandoned nor boarded up. It has been acquired by Austin Community College to serve as their main campus), we can control the quality of our property and service. In late 2013, TripAdvisor awarded our property the certificate of Excellence based upon our guests overwhelmingly positive feedback. Indeed, out of the many lodging options and Holiday Inn locations in Austin, we rank highly. Our continued commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction is one of many reasons why our guests choose to stay with us whenever they are in Austin.

Happy Travels,

Robert D. Holsten II | Front Office Manager

I had an amazing experience at this hotel. My spouse and I went to the bar to have some drinks and were quickly acknowledged by the bartender Josh with a smile and quick service. He was very attentive and helpful. We will definitely be coming back to the hotel and will make a special visit to the bar. Thanks again Josh for being an amazing bartender.

We spent 2 nights at this Holiday Inn. We were upgraded to a King Suite, which was very nice - a large room, very comfortable bed.
The location was perfect for the places we wanted to go over the weekend, and the hotel was convenient to get to.
We had complimentary breakfast coupons, and this is the one area I would have to say wasn't great. The breakfast area was nice, and the servers were very good, but the breakfast buffet was just so-so. The fruit wasn't real fresh and had a chemical or maybe metallic taste, like it may have had some kind of preservative or something. The eggs and potatoes were lukewarm at best, and the bacon was all broken into little pieces. There was only whole and 2% milk. I would prefer skim, but 1% would've been ok, but they had neither (this wouldn't be a problem for everyone, I know)
Overall it was a very good stay, the breakfast was the only complaint - and I feel kind of bad about complaining about a free breakfast, but if you're going to have a breakfast buffet in a nice hotel, do it well.
