“Great place and location”
Reviewed 7 February 2013

Last min stop, we liked it so much we stayed another night. Great location for the price. Might need to have some remodeling done but the staff and the cleanness of the place made up for it. The restaurant surprisingly good and loved the staff, they took good care of us (disabled parents). Best Holiday Inn I've been at in a long time.

I was a little concerned when I read the other reviews of this hotel but figured if it got 3 out of 5 on the rating scale, it had to be ok. In the future I will go with hotels with 4-5 ratings. First I will start with the positive. The front desk was friendly, the transport to the airport was a nice service and we also had to use the business center and I was pleasantly surprised that the printer actually worked. Now, things that weren't so great. The elevators need some work, they were pretty scary. The carpeting throughout the hallways and rooms needs to be replaced. You could see a layer of dust under all the furniture in our room. The bathroom was very small, only one person could be in there at a time. The room was noisy with the traffic sounds from I-35 and you could hear the people in the room next door. Overall it had a very dated, dirty feel.

Thanks for taking the time to post your comment. We’re glad your enjoyed the complimentary shuttle and our staff. Yes, printers in hotel Business Centers are very hard to keep running.

You hit on a couple of points we are in the process of updating. We’re graded through many channels and the public area carpeting and elevators come up often. Just know that they are part of our capital plan for 2013. Elevators should be done by the end of the first quarter. They are currently sound but do appear to be dated.

Unfortunately, the size of the bathrooms in the Capital Tower is something we can’t change, we’re just built that way. Our location near the interstate is also something we can’t change. We did install double pained glass in 2008 to mitigate any disturbance but some people are just more sensitive than others.

Next time you come, make sure you request a quiet room. Just about half of our rooms do not overlook the highway.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the holiday inn town lake in austin texas......the hotel has incredible food but even better than dining is the team they have there really make it a home away from home. i was greated by jesse front end manager with such a warm smile that i quickly forgot the chilly temperature outside......Jesse went above and beyond by upgrading my room making sure i knew all important areas of hotel but he suggested a menu item from the restaurant and assured me with confidence that the staff was there to make sure my stay was not only relaxing but a fresh change from the monotone and sometimes zombie-like demeanor of some other hotel chains i frequent ......it was like arriving at a friends house for a much needed R&R after a long road trip ....welcoming warm and refreshing....thank you holiday inn town lake as far as im concerend for the value and hospitality......there are no other hotels in austin......see you guys again ............yours .....more than satisfied traveler......t. brennen

Thanks so much for the great comments. This is exactly the kind of atmosphere we try to create and Jesse is one of the best. He understands that we are in the Hospitality business and would be lost without our guests.

Thanks again, we look forward to hosting you again next time.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times. A/C is not the greatest and to be honest the hotel could use some upgrades. I will give me them this, Aaron and the front desk folks were great! Seemed like just good people and trying to make sure you were happy.

Room Tip: talk to the front desk. good people

Thanks for the compliments. Aaron does indeed strive, in every case, to make our guests happy.

We’re currently upgrading our AC units to assure a comfortable stay for all our guests. Some unit have to be changed manually from AC to Head and this winter has been a real roller coaster temperature wise. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your continues patronage. Come back soon.

The Holiday Inn Town Lake looks tired inside.
We booked this hotel last minute for a Friday and Saturday evening for a rate of $137.00. Trip Advisor rate was $129.00.
The front desk was very friendly at check in, and we asked them if the garage was secure. They said no, and we ended bringing our mountain bikes inside. This hotel is right on the I-35 frontage road, noisy from traffic. And its also an airline crew hotel.
To get to our room from the parking garage, we had to take one elevator to the ground floor and then another elevator to the 10th floor.
The rooms were average, clean, with spots on the carpets. Pillows on our king bed were so small and lumpy. They were elaborately labeled "soft" with a ribbon and plastic tag?
It was disheartening to see scratched doors and peeling paint. This hotel needs maintenance, and interior cleaning. The ice maker on the 10th floor didn't work.
Save money and don't add the breakfast to your room. Austin has great food everywhere. For the same price you could get an amazing breakfast at Magnolia Cafe, Kerby Lane, Cafe 24, or the Whole Foods flagship store.

Room Tip: Spend the money somewhere else and get a better room!

Thanks for the comments. Yes we do have a helpful staff and we work hard to keep them motivated to give our guests outstanding service. We are not the newest hotel in town but we do offer great value in the lower downtown area.

I have to say that safety is a major concern as it is in all hotels. Anywhere you stay, it’s always best to lock your car and take your valuables. The duel elevators are separated just for that purpose to prevent anyone from going directly from the parking lot to guest floors.

You’ll be happy to know that we’re in the process of acquiring soft goods throughout the property. Come back and see us soon.

We stayed here mainly because of the free shuttle ride to and from then airport. We were pleasantly surprised at how friendly our driver was (Thanks Aaron!). He was extremely helpful in providing suggestions for us we are first time visitors to the Austin. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was extremely welcoming and friendly!

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room. Neat outlook on Lady Bird Lake & the city.

I came to Austin for business and needed a reasonably priced hotel to stay in for the night. When I walked in, the elevators were not working so I had to be taken through the employee elevator to get to my room. Not a huge deal on it's own but it was also critical that I had a working wi-fi connection in my room. Though complimentary, the connection was incredibly slow and would frequently disconnect me. I would have gladly paid for a reliable wi-fi connection, but the hotel's free version was borderline useless.

Other than that, room was clean, bed was big and comfortable and they offered me a free shuttle ride downtown in the morning.
