The hotel is situated in Austin North just off one of the cities super duper ridiculously overbuilt super highways. It turns inward, away from the suburban sprawl with a pretty terrific and well done Spanish style lobby and interior courtyard. I was surprised at the quality of the public areas. The highways in Austin are pretty overwhelming &, to me a little sad, but I have to say the hotel's location off of I 235 allowed us to be anywhere in and around the city within 20 minutes max.
Service throughout was excellent without exception. We only had breakfast, but again, service and value were great. A very complete buffet with various breads - zucchini, cranberry, banana, etc, as well as yogurts, fruits, oatmeal, and other cereals with coffee & juices only 10.00. For $3.00 more you can have made to order omelets, pancakes, meats, etc. The quality was very good and the price is terrific.
Literally across the street is a Pappadeaux restaurant; a Houston institution that, I guess, has expanded into Austin. Although Austin has way more than its share of excellent local and unique places to eat its nice to have this option only 2 minutes walk away.
I am an HHonors member so I stay at Hilton's frequently. This Doubletree ranks as one of the best in terms of value, and service that I have experienced.More
