“Excellent Customer Service and Beautiful Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 September 2011

This hotel is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The interior is very well appointed with the latest decor and ambience. The glass elevators overlooking the hotel center and open ceiling plan make you feel like you are in an outdoor palace. The hotel sits on Town Lake and has a great views of the water and the city skyline. It is a short walk across the bridge to all the downtown Austin shops, restaurants, and bars. Super fun town. The customer service at the Hyatt was amazing. We had a wonderful experience with Edwin Ryu - the front desk agent. He made us feel very special upon check in. We had originally been issued a room with two beds and when my husband explained that we were celebrating our anniversary, Edwin was able to find a king room for us. We checked in to our room to freshen up and then went out for dinner. Upon our return to the room after dinner, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a very sweet note from Edwin wishing us a happy anniversary. This made us feel so special and created a memory that we will always remember.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the city skyline and the lake.

I stayed three nights for a conference and each and every one was lousy, especially for the price paid.
As many hotels do nowadays, you must call to get housekeeping. Ok, I called daily and asked for housekeeping. Nada. Oh, wait, they did put extra towels in the room.
The bed was made once, happily they only did it once as the sheet was on top while the blanket was on the bottom. Just the opposite how it should be.
Some very odd choices for lunch, what exactly does one do with a plate of ham, salami, and vegetables. No bread in site.
The conference room microphone did not work. For the entire three days!
I'll not be staying there again and will suggest the conference move to another hotel next year.

This is the second year staying at the Hyatt Regency in Austin for Austin City Limits annual music festival, again with a group of friends. Not a lot has changed since my stay there (and review of it) last year, but some things I did notice:

- More automation options (Web Check-in, Lobby Check-in kiosks, etc.) that helped make those types of activities smoother, more efficient.

- Service is always consistently friendly and professional.

- I had forgotten how good their hotel restaurant (SWB - Southwest Bistro) was for breakfast. Some of us opted for the expansive breakfast buffet which was definitely far better than typical hotel restaurant breakfast buffet fare, and some opted for ordering off the menu, but in both cases the food was excellent.

- Great, quick access to Lady Bird Lake Trail from right out the back hotel doors. Hotel also provides a handy wallet card with a trail route map indicating mile markers for those so inclined to get out and exercise outdoors.

My only disappointment is with the extremely high rates during Austin City Limits music festival. I get that it's supply-and-demand, but the past several years with the rise in popularity (and increased attendance) of ACL music festival, the hotel has correspondingly raised its rates as well. For $359/night, that's starting to edge into the price range one would expect for a Four Seasons stay! And as decent as the Hyatt Regency is... it's no Four Seasons. Despite the fairly recent guest room renovation in 2006 (the renovation of the common areas and restaurant were more recent than that, 2009), the room did begin to show some early signs of tiredness -- there were a few scratches/gouges on the wall and the carpeted floor didn't appear to have been vacuumed during our 3-night stay -- although this could be due more to housekeeping issues than the facilities themselves per se.

However, the service is still top-notch and very friendly, and the location can't be beat for walking down Barton Springs to Zilker Park and Barton Springs...

We stayed at this hotel after a friend's recommendation. Our trip to Austin was based around the ACL Festival. We could not have asked for a better hotel location for the festival. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to Zilker Park.

We arrived about 2 hours early and they were able to check us in early. The lady at the desk was friendly and courteous. The main lobby in the hotel was very nice. The hotel has a coffee shop on the main level (they serve Starbucks coffee); there is a bar on the main level and a restaurant on the 2nd floor. There is a nice outdoor patio and an outdoor pool. The hotel, and the city, has a great running/walking/biking trail that is 10 miles long. It runs around the city and Ladybird Lake. Its very active with runners, bikers and walkers and is very safe.

Our room was on the 16th floor; 2 double beds with a balcony overlooking Ladybird Lake. The room was a nice size, clean with a nice size bathroom. The room did not have a refrigerator. The toiletries provided by the hotel were nice.

The a/c in the room was ok; it would cut off at night and the room would get warm. The floor around the unit also became very wet; I assume from the unit freezing up.

The beds were very comfortable; the linens clean. Our cleaning lady came in everyday and made the bed; provided clean towels.

The hotel was very good about making sure festival goers did not come in and make too much noise on the floors; which was nice after a long day and being ready for sleep.

We did not park at the hotel, but found out parking is $14.00 per day.

There are several restaurants close by the hotel and there are places to shop within walking distance.

I would definitely return to this hotel during any visit to Austin, but especially for the ACL Festival.

Make sure you check out the "bat bridge". Ask anyone at the hotel; they'll lead you in the right direction.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the vending machines.

Stayed recently at the Hyatt downtown for Austin City Limits festival. From moment one the hotel was overly accommodating and truly a great place to spend the weekend. From the free lemonade and iced tea in the lobby, to the late night eats guide they printed and distributed, to the impeccable views of a beautiful city, the hotel was a highlight of our trip! Room was very nice, comfortable bed and amazing view of downtown Austin and the amazing bat bridge. We dined in the hotel late night (midnight after shows) one night and the food was great. Eating on the outdoor porch with couches and fireplace while overlooking the water was a great way to end the night. Very clean hotel and amazing service with lots of amenities such as computer kiosk room check-in, coffee shop in lobby, and a place to print out your boarding pass before your trip to the airport. This hotel could be in the middle of nowhere and be great, but the location is really unbeatable. You are a 5-10 minute walk across the bridges to downtown Austin and all its amazing restaurants and bar scene. You are about a 25 minute scenic walk over to Zilker Park and the springs and you are a 20 minute walk down to South Congress area, with its quirky shops and great bars/restaurants. We were first timers to Austin and were thankful that the hotel was so centrally located so that we could really explore the city! Can't say enough about this hotel! If you want to introduce yourself to Austin-come here!

Room Tip: Lake View room is not to be missed-worth the extra 20 or so dollars.

I stayed at the Hyatt with several friends over a long weekend. The rooms are nice, but expensive for what they are. We fortunately got a business upgrade so internet was free-- otherwise, I would really have balked at $10/day!

I travel about 50% of the time, this was a trip with my family. When they come along I try to stay at a higher end hotel. Nothing special about this hotel for the price you will pay to stay here. You would think it would come with all the basic of hotels half this price, but no expect to keep pulling out the wallet for everything! Wifi, Parking, and Breakfast are NOT included for this ridiculous amount you will pay. It does have everything you need and was clean and in good shape. The bar was nice. But that was the problem it was SO LOUD! My wife at 1am wanted to go find another hotel. The bar is in the middle on the bottom floor then the rooms on all the levels open up to the center and can look down to the bar when you walk out of your room. Well the sound just travels up to the top of the building. We where on a higher level, and it sounded like everyone was right out our door. The rooms very very clean! But once again nothing special. Plastic shower curtains and NO Counter space in the bathroom. And I mean NO space. My wife did not have anything to set her makeup case on to get ready. It was odd? Bed was soft and nice. Views where amazing from the room. The gym looked real nice, but I did not use it. And with the location you might want to take advantage of a near by trail for running or biking. We did not see the pool, sorry. For a conference this place would be good but other that I would find somewhere else. The value factor and Loud noise can not be over looked that is way I would give it such low ratings.

Room Tip: I think there might be a few rooms that do not open up to the bottom level. Ask for one of those roo...
