My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel over the Easter holiday. We had a beautiful room overlooking the river. The restaurant had a great breakfast buffet and quite a nice Easter brunch. Service was excellent from checkin to checkout. They have done an great job in training their employees. Overall a great experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

We spent the weekend in Austin and reserved a Balcony River King. The room was not ready when we arrived but it was by their 3 PM check in. The room was adequate and the bathroom no more than average. It is the location that is the real draw, especially with one of the river facing rooms. It is an easy walk to the Capitol Building and all the restaurants and shops on or near 6th Street. We got a room on the top floor, the 16th which had plusses and minuses. On the plus side, we had unimpeded views of the river, the Congress Avenue Bridge and downtown Austin from the balcony. On the negative side: there is a ballroom on the 17th floor on the river side of the building and on Saturday night a wedding reception was taking place. Obviously there was no soundproofing because the noise was absolutely unbearable. We called to complain, not that there was really anything to be done; it WAS a wedding after all. But I have to say that the hotel management made it more than right. When we checked out, we found out they comped us that night's stay. The front desk should let guests know when checking in that an event may compromise their expectation of quiet and find a lower floor if that may be a problem. I suggest you ask about events in the 17th floor ballroom if you find yourself with a river facing room on the 16th floor. The hotel staff were all friendly and terrific. The valets were quick and ready to offer directions. The wait staff in the bar and restaurant were knowledgeable about the offerings and happy to chat about the area and answer questions. The food at the restaurant, while limited in variety, was very good at reasonable prices. Overall, it was a great stay and we would likely stay here again next time we are in Austin.

Room Tip: Get a river view room and a high floor but ask about events in the 17th floor ballroom and don't stay on 16 if there is and the noise will be a problem.

I stayed there on a Dell corporate rate and got a good room with River View . The hotel is conveniently located close to Congress Bridge, within walking distance to the Convention Center as well as the famous 6th street and Warehouse Dist. The hotel is in good shape, nothing extraordinary though. The service at the lobby bar was great, the breakfast buffet nothing extraordinary, and if you want a better coffee, I suggest you take it from the starbucks counter next to the entrance!Overall, good value for money, no wow effect though!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with River View!

This is a typical Hyatt. River view rooms have a great view... can't comment on the other rooms. Rooms are clean modern and well kept even though this is an older property. Location is perfect for touring and business in Austin. Very close to Congress Bridge and the famous Bats! Only negative issue was breakfast service, we were initially ignored and then received everything in duplicate from two different servers and then ignored again....... and the place was not even remotely full!
