“fell a bit short during busy SXSW stay”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

Great location, clean, 4-star warranted, except: sink maintenance issue went unresolved despite two separate in-person requests at front desk; internet connection was so slow that I had to resort to tethering to iPhone's LTE connection to send email. I expect better when paying max rate (374.00/night inc tax).

We appreciate the feedback from your recent visit during SXSW. Please accept our sincere apologies for the lapse in maintenance and wifi service during the high volume event. We value your comments and hope you will return next year as we are in the process of upgrading our wifi system within the next month.

There are many positives about the hotel, most notably the staff. Every single employee we encountered was polite, friendly and extremely helpful. Since we arrived prior to check in, the woman at the front desk provided a key to the locker room so we could change after our flight and took our bags until our room was ready. Every person at the concierge was incredible; they provided us with any information we needed (map, directions, restaurant recommendations), called us cabs when requested, and were always cordial.

The biggest drawback to the hotel is the rooms which face the street. Reviews I read before booking the hotel mentioned the noise, but given the close proximity to 6th street, I figured noise was unavoidable. I did not realize, though, just how loud it would be. It gets progressively louder throughout the weekend and it sounds as if there is a group of people fighting right outside the window -from 1am to 3am. It isn't the fault of the hotel, but it will disturb your sleep if you are a light sleeper. The young man at the front desk suggested selecting an atrium side room for future visits and I would definitely concur with that.

Overall the accommodations were great- the hotel is clean and the rooms are very comfortable, and the rooftop pool is an added bonus. We would definitely stay there again- on the atrium side.

We appreciate your kind words for our staff members and were sorry to hear you were disturbed by city noise during your visit. We look forward to your next visit in an atrium facing guestroom.

Love this hotel and the staff is excellent, self-parking for $20.00 is very convenient. We were upgraded after signing up for Omni Select. Street noise was a little loud at night. Great area to stay if your into walking around the city.

I would recommend this hotel in Austin based on it's location to 6th street and the clean hotel rooms. My wife and i stayed here after ACL festival (Weekend #2 - the flood) The Omni was a good choice because it was downtown and walking distance to all the attractions. We checked in early and our room was great and clean. Our view was of the inside of the hotel lobby so we did not have any outside noise.

this was our first visit to austin. the hotel is centrally located and convenient to all of the downtown sites. we like to walk and explore but we found that we didn't need to walk very far to stumble onto fun activities. we upgraded to a club room which was quite comfortable. it was a holiday weekend so the hotel was fairly empty & quiet. the staff was friendly but not intrusive. we really enjoyed the free continental breakfast and cocktail hour every day. we would stay here again.

the only negative thing i have to say is regarding the elevators. they were very slow. it seemed like only 1 elevator bank was running while we were there. on the morning we were checking out it took forever to get picked up, and to descend to the ground floor.

Room Tip: we stayed in a club room which was very quiet on a private floor.

We're pleased you enjoyed your stay on our Club Level. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience as a result of the slower than customary elevator service. We appreciate your feedback.

I stayed at the Omni Hotel Austin Downtown while attending the SXSW Trade Show. My experience there was exceptional - from the quality of service and friendliness provided by the staff to the terrific room on the hotel's east side (with balcony) to the great food served at Ancho's. I highly recommend it when you're on your next business trip to Austin.

Overall the experience was great. It always felt good coming back to the hotel and the facility is beautiful. It was a little pricey for my taste, but really a great experience. I would have liked the desk to take a moment and point me to things such as the exercise equipment or explained the WiFi policy.
