“Nice stay poor internet”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

I found the Omni generally a good choice in Austin, I have stayed at the Hyatt and the Intercontinental and liked the Omni better. On weekends only the front doors are unlocked so you have to walk around the block to get in if you are walking from 6th. There is a CVS a few blocks walk and very convenient. The internet was very bothersome. Extremely slow, clunky. Tech support is for the chain so call backs are a toll when you don't pick up their call. Tech support was very marginally helpful. The service is two tier. It is free if you are a loyalty program member. Probably what it is worth, I fought the poor service for 3 days. Breakfast is buffet and coffee comes in a pot so you don't have to wait for refills, room service is fast and the food was even hot so kudos for in room dinning. Staff are courteous, the bed is a bit on the soft side but very comfortable, plenty of pillows and the air handling is comfortable.

Room Tip: I was on the 3rd floor although I requested a high floor, it was quiet so no complaints their and do...

I stayed here (1813) for 5 nights in June, as I was attending a conference at the Hilton/Austin Convention Center. The location is great - easy walking all around downtown, and close to a variety of food and drink options.

I was upgraded to a King Suite - the room was lovely (and bigger than some NYC apartments I've lived in!). It was decorated nicely and was very clean. However the biggest issue I had (and what's keeping me from giving it a 5/5) is that the thermostat didn't work very well - the bedroom seemed 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the suite. I had to keep it on 60 to have a bedroom at a comfortable setting, which meant the rest of the suite was a bit cold! I had to report this three times before a fan was finally brought to the room - the first time I spoke directly with engineering but got no update, the second time I spoke with the front desk and got no update, and the third time I spoke with the front desk again and the same person made sure that there was a fan in my room that day. (The thermostat was still a bit off ...)

Otherwise there were a few mornings that I didn't get a newspaper, but I could grab one in the lobby so that wasn't a problem. The service of the front desk and the concierge was excellent - exactly what I would expect from an Omni. My room overlooked the atrium and it was super quiet.

I would stay here again, but would stick to a regular guest room I think. :o)

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, request one that overlooks the atrium.

Thank you for the valuable feedback regarding the HVAC issues and lack of customary prompt response from our staff members. We appreciate your honest input and will ensure the thermostat is functioning properly and will also address the lack customer service from our Engineering and Front Desk associates. We hope you will return in the future.

Always stay in this hotel when visiting Austin. Have business meetings at the capital. Convenient, great facility, good service. Recommend for everyone. Make reservations early, this facility is usually full if you wait. Beautiful place to enjoy a few nights in Austin. Totally recommend.

This hotel is just a block and a half off of 6th street, the live music mecca of the world. Lots of great places to eat, Stubbs, LaCondesa, Trullocks just to name a few in walking distance, then if you want to drive there is Rudy's and Salt Like out by Dripping Springs.

I visited Austin for the first time this weekend. Stayed at the Omni it was in the $225 range per night. The staff is very helpful, my room as on the 18th floor with a balcony. I asked to change to a King vs. two doubles and they offered this room, so awesome! It was light and bright; updated and clean. There's a Starbucks in the lobby, the breakfast is excellent, the proximity to night life, 6th Street, Stubbs BBQ, and the Austin State Capital buildings are all close enough to walk. The gym is decent, the hotel lobby bar is really nice. Quiet rooms, comfortable bed, helpful staff. I'll be back!

I stayed at the Omni for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. I stayed with 3 other girls and the rooms were very spacious. The desk staff were professional. The location is perfect! - just 1 block from 6th street bars and restaurants; we walked there every night. Omni is also one of the only hotels with a pool. It is small, but has a great view as it is on the rooftop. There is also a bar there. The 1 annoying fact about the pool is you are not able to bring your own drinks - no alcohol, but also no coffee or water... seemed a little odd considering there is a Starbucks in the lobby. My only other complaint is the elevators. They move EXTREMELY slow and are not sufficient for the amount of guests and amount of floors. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Austin. It was a great value!

I usually stay here for a week every couple of months.
Service is always very good from the moment you step through the door.
The desk has a glass top, so can be a little tricky with certain types of mouse.
The bed is comfortable, though slightly on the soft side for my liking ( I prefer a firm / hard mattress ). Pillows are supportive and plenty to choose from.
Shower is not the most powerful, but ok. Always plenty of towels in the room.
Service at breakfast is always really good, though i think it's a bit over priced.
