“Good location and comfortable bed”
Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for 4 nights in June to attend a wedding. Our room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. We did not hear any noise from the other guests on our floor. The rooftop pool was small but nice. This property is in a great location for walking and exploring the city. We did not have a car so we did not need to pay for parking. I do wish the room had a small refrigerator. It was a great stay.

The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly. The food presentation was great and tasted delicious. It was clear that the staff took great pride in the facility. I had the best nights sleep in a long time. The sheets and pillows were awesome.

Problems with noise and the wear level of items in the room during my stay in Austin. Woke up at 3:00 with people talking loudly - sounded like *in* my room. The access doors between rooms leave much to be desired for sound suppression. If you're in Austin for the 6th street revelry, this place is fine... but if you're here with a family or on business, do yourself a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn. Room items were really worn, as well - torn leather coverings on the lights, gouges in the wood chairs, etc. In a former life, I financed Commercial Casinos, so have an eye for this kind of stuff. Definitly not Omni-level quality.

This place seems fancy from the lobby, and all the money you will spend here suggests the same, but this place is really just an overinflated standard hotel with none of the cost-free amenities.
1. $20 self-park or $28 valet
2. No vending machines which forces you to buy from the mini-bar or restaurant
3. Outdated rooms (our door handle fell off)
4. A full flight of stairs between highest floor and tiny roof pool.
5. Crappy climate control. It's HOT in here all the time.
6. The rooms with 2 beds are full not queen. For such large rooms and the price we paid, this was kind of disappointing.
The only redeeming quality here is the location.

I'm almost at a loss for words to describe my lackluster experience at the Downtown Omni.

Parking. Expensive @ $20.00 a day for self-parking.

Room. Boring. Beige walls, small closet, a price on everything from the mini-bar to the ironing items. I didn't know I was at a store. My husband hated the bed and pillows. If you like 'fluffy, firm' you'll be ok, in my opinion. I didn't mind the linens or the bed and slept fine. Walls are thin and we could hear our boisterous neighbors.

Bathroom. Nothing special at all aside from the hideous wall paper. The toilet paper feels like it's about 20 feet from you and the shower head barely moves if you want to reposition it. The toiletries suck.

Pool. Very cloudy water on the evening we stayed, no lighting for evening hours and a view of a portion of DT and I-35. Yay, my most hated roadway in all of Austin! Note, sarcasm.

Positives. You'll be mildly wowed by the atrium and the glass elevators. The evening hours are enjoyable in the lobby with the ambient mood lighting and candles. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you like to travel with your pup, it's pet-friendly...for a fee, of course.

I have high expectations of the Omni brand and this hotel is a 'has-been' that needs more than just a face lift.

We booked through Expedia. Beautiful hotel, excellent pool and gym. We stayed on the top floor, #14. Room was great, very comfy, clean and a place I will definitely book again. Staff was extremely friendly, on our way out we were offered cold water bottles. Stay here!
