“Omni needs updating”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2009

The Omni is located in a pretty good location in downtown Austin to allow walking to attractions and restaurants. The hotel's guest rooms are desparately in need of renovation. The front desk staff are not helpful, nor very friendly. Just did not meet my expectation of a 4 star hotel.

The room was small but clean. I paid over 230 a night and that was $130.00 too much. No free anything - parking is $18.00 a night per car, cruddy bell hop service, no free internet, and the parking garage is hard to get in and out of. You come up from the parking garage into the dining area which is weird. Yes, please look at me as I am tired and disheveled after a long trip with your mouths full of overpriced salads. The window in your room opens up to look at offices inside the hotel because it is really only half a hotel, half offices. The TV took forever to change between channels. The pool on the roof did not leave me with a sense of security because there is a nice gap children can fit through up there. Parents - this is not a hotel for kids. In the end my bill was wrong and it just was a bunk time over all. Try another hotel first before you stay here. Too much money for too little of service and amenities. **UPDATE They tried to buy me off with a free night - after saying no, they asked for my address to send me the gift cert. THEY DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO ANYTHING!!! I SAID NO!! I DO NOT WANT TO STAY IN YOUR FLIPPING "HOTEL" YOU OVERPAID [--]

  • Liked — Leaving, but seriously it was very clean...sterile almost...weirdly sterile.
  • Disliked — Choosing this hotel in the first place

Thank you priceline, excellent choice. I live in the burbs and had friends visiting so headed for 6th Street. Very appealing hotel, beautiful lobby, courteous staff, comfy beds and did not mind at all paying 18 a night for parking, this is downtown Austin better safe than sorry. FYI there are two homeless shelters just around the corner....

This was the perfect location for our trip. The price we got on priceline was unbeatable. The bed was by far one of the most comfortable ever. The decor was updated and like another rater I too noticed that it smelled very clean. Overall great stay. Be prepared to pay about 18/night parking.

I just returned from a wedding weekend at this hotel and it was a nightmare. We arrived at 1PM and had to wait 2 hours for a room (they gave our room away twice). The receptionist then lied to us when he finally gave us a room (he told us we were next to other wedding guests when we were put in a room 6 floors away from the wedding party). The food was mediocre. The night staff was borderline beligerent (35y/o's with kids should be able to bring a six pack into the hotel). Bottom line: they harass guests because they are afraid that their proximity to 6th street will encourage late night in-room partying (which didn't happen). HOWEVER, the Driskill is across the street, at the same price, of the same star quality with BETTER ROOMS, BETTER FOOD, BETTER SERVICE and no harassment. This place simply isn't worth the price of admission. I'm well traveled and this is a marginal hotel at best. It's much closer to a 2-star than 4-star and whatever you do, DO NOT GET MARRIED HERE!!!!!

This is a pretty good Omni. It's right in the middle of town, which san be conveinent. But if you don't mind driving from Hwy 71, then I would stay at the Omni South Park. I just like that one better.

  • Liked — Great location
  • Disliked — Hard to get out of town from here.

I just had my wedding there and they are mis leading on every part. I first had one wedding coordinator and then she did not return calls or emails for 3 months then when I finally got a hold of someone they said she was no longer my wedding coordinator Leah was and people do not have your wedding here. it was all horrible. The food was great but the staff will tell you anything for you to think you are getting a really good deal and then bill you for it later.
