We booked this hotel through Hotwire. If you have ever booked through Hotwire, you know you get a great price, but you also get the least desirable rooms. When a Hotwire representative informed the hotel it was our honeymoon, the red carpet was rolled out. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about the service we received from the hotel staff. First, we were upgraded to a king suite with a lake view at no extra charge, the daily parking fee of $16 was waived for our entire stay, we received breakfast vouchers for each morning we were there, we had a bottle of champagne waiting in our room upon arrival and several of the staff referred to us by name. Big thank you to Ben, the front desk manager, Nick, the food and beverage manager, Chyenne at the front desk, and of course "Mr. Awesome" who was much more than a bell hop. All of these staff members went above and beyond to make our stay very special.

The only reason I gave a "good" rating instead of an "excellent" is because we think a hotel this nice should have a better restaurant than TGIFridays, but of course this should not reflect on the hotel staff. We will certainly stay here again.

This hotel is on the intersection of Lady Bird Lake and Congress Avenue. It's really easy to get to some of the touristy spots in Austin. You can see the Capitol from here, and it's just a short walk (1.6 miles). The Bob Bullock museum is a little further, and even t.u. (UT Austin) is not too far to walk. There's a bus stop across Congress too, so you can take a bus back if you are tired. Other places of interest that are not too far away include Barton Springs Pool and the Soco area. The Congress Ave bridge that is popular for bat watching is just a few steps away too.

For those driving in, parking here is expensive ($16/day), but perhaps par for the course. The garage is a little tight as well. I'd say walk or take the bus to nearby attractions. It's fast, and you save time and a few dollars looking for parking at your destination.

The hotel room was smaller than we expected, but otherwise adequate. Everything in the room was functional. A sleep number bed was provided, for what it's worth.I was impressed that the TV channels appeared to be full HD. Coffee addicts: there's a Starbucks right at the ground floor of the hotel. It closes relatively early, though.

The walk-in rate for this hotel is a little high, especially compared to Dallas, but compared with other published rates in Austin, it seems acceptable.

i stayed in room 1229 and was warned that it might get warm. It was 103 in Austin, but I was fine. I had a great view of the bridge (unfortunately the bats did not cooperate) and the room was large with a separate desk and table and quite comfortable. The best part, however, was the people. The front desk was extremely accommodating, allowing me to check in early and were as friendly and helpful as they could be. They made a business trip into a pleasure trip.

Room Tip: The upper floors do get a bit warmer during the hot summer days, heat sensitive visitors may want a...

My colleagues and I stay here often in our frequent visits to Austin for business. The staff is always courteous and helpful. If we ever encounter a problem, the GM responds quickly. The lobby is great and I love the live music some evenings and the aquarium. The location is great and it's fun to try to catch the bats coming out from under the bridge at dusk.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river and watch the bats!

We had a one bedroom suite with a king bed. The hotel was clean and the concierge was extremely friendly and willing to help with restaurant choices and things to to in the city. The room was spotless, and although the decor was a little dated, it certainly didn't bother me. The hotel was in a great location: steps away from the South Congress bridge (the BAT BRIDGE!), only a short 6 block walk to 6th street and all if its craziness, and tons of wonderful restaurants nearby. (Try Cafe Crepe.. Delish and only 2 blocks away). Overall, highly recommended.

Room Tip: Go for the suite!

We stayed at this location for two nights while visiting Austin. We wanted to be near Town Lake, the nightlife, and entertainment so as with most of our trips to Austin, we try to stay downtown. We have always liked the location of the Radisson, and found an excellent rate so decided to give it a try. We were very happy that we did.

The location was easy to find given it is located at first and Congress. Within a 5 minute walk you have the warehouse entertainment district, 2nd Street district, 6th Street, etc. You have the choice of valet or self-parking. Self-parking is in a connected garage with easy elevator access. ($16 self with in and out, which is typical downtown....some places are even more. Parking for larger vehicles is on the first floor and rather limited but we did not have trouble finding a spot. Normal sized vehicles are on the higher floors. There is a nicely decorated inviting lobby with front desk and nicely appointed common area. Check in was quick, friendly, and efficient. The elevator is in a unusual place tucked away in a hallway, but we never had a long wait for the elevators.

We never had the opportunity to check out the gym, given we were on Town Lake and love to run on the lake. They also have one of the nicer pools downtown, overlooking Town Lake. Though the pool was not huge, there were plenty of loungers available.

Though we were there for the nightlife of Austin, it was nice to be away from the hectic side, and we were really appreciative of the hotels no party policy. Unlike other hotels in the area however, we did not see a security presence at night, though they may have been there. The rooms are somewhat dated, but very clean and the sleep number beds were comfortable. They have nice HDTV’s in the room. We were able to upgrade to a two room suite for $11, which was nice to have since one of us was getting up really early for a race. The climate control works well and the blower motor stays on for white noise while the climate control is still functioning. We had no noise from adjoining rooms nor outside city noise. Bathrooms very basic, but sufficient. There is a tub with shower.

Breakfast is not included at the Radisson, but they have a Starbucks in the lobby for quick drinks and pastries, as well as a TGI Fridays as the hotel restaurant which does serve breakfast. This is the norm for the brand and we did not expect any free breakfast. The area has every type of dining and entertainment option you could ask for all within easy walking distance. We ended up stopping into the TGI Fridays just after midnight Saturday night for a late night snack. The intent was to stop at one of the food trucks, but a storm was blowing in and we took the opportunity to get back to the hotel from Cru while the rain had stopped. The staff was friendly and attentive. You can also order the TGI Fridays menu at the pool, but watch out, they have a delivery fee and gratuity already added...which is odd given the pool is right next to the restaurant.

We would absolutely recommend this location and would stay here again if we wanted to stay in the area for a personal trip and can get a good rate. Having also stayed at the nearby Hilton, Hampton, Hyatt, Intercontinental, Residence Inn, Courtyard and Driskall in the past, I would feel comfortable choosing any of these hotels based on who has the best price at the time. All of these are very nice options and similar in their offerings and the prices seem to vary wildly from day to day. The Radisson is slightly more outdated, but has a wonderful product and have one of the best locations in downtown which we love.

Room Tip: River view is nice if you can get it. For a few extra dollars book a one bedroom suite if you can.
