“Regional conference and hotel stay”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

Stayed here for two nights to coincide with a conference hosted at the hotel. The set-up reminds me a lot of a newer Embassy Suites with a nice bright lobby and lots of space. The rooms were standard, clean but starting to show a little wear. Not a big deal but it would be nice to have two coffee packs instead of one.
The hotel has an inside pool with a separate hot tub and sauna. This also connects to the well equiped gym with plenty of cardio equipment, machines and free weights. The outside pool is nice but fairly small.
There are a lot of dining options within walking distance so no need to drive for food if you don't want to. There are also two outdoor malls within walking distance.
*I would not recommend staying here if your plan is to spend most of your time in downtown Austin especially during rush hour

I stayed here for a 3 day conference. Upon check-in our rooms were not ready but the clerk was very nice and helpful to acccomodate our needs. Every hotel employee goes above and beyond to help you when you need something.
The rooms are very large but the furniture is very dated and looks small. There are not very many outlets for the growing technology that guests bring into a room these days.
I do like where the hotel is located because it is very close to shops and easy access to the highway to go downtown to 6th street. I had a rental car so it was a quick trip for me.

Room Tip: We got two adjoining rooms for cheaper than a suite and it had more space and 2 bathrooms.

I attended a professional meeting at the Renaissance recently accompanied by my wife. The first impression of this property is impressive, the lobby is beautiful and the staff are very attentive and continued to be exemplary throughout our stay.
Arriving at our room was a bit of a disappointment. The room did not have any major flaws it was just extremely outdated. The carpet was stained, the furniture was in good repair but very small for the size of the room and was somewhat worn. There is no internet service which is unusual for a luxury sight or added amenities such as a microwave or refrigerator. The bathroom was stocked with just two sets of towels and the toiletries were limited to basic needs.
Public rooms are in good order again just very dated. There is no complimentary breakfast and the buffet did not impress, we choice a restaurant off property.
This hotel is not a good choice for tourists it is a thirty dollar cab ride to the downtown entertainment area of Austin. There are very good restaurants in walking distance of the hotel but not much entertainment options or nightlife.
The staff is the strongest asset of this hotel they were very helpful and kind. The facility is not bad its just dated. For a business meeting this is a cost effective choice. I would not recommend the renaissance for a romantic getaway or for a vacation destination.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the west side of the building on a higher floor. Many of the interior rooms hav...

Just spent 4 days at this facility. The staff is simply wonderful to work with. A great big Thank You to Darren, Moses and all the great staff that worked on the TAHV Convention. All rooms, from guest to meeting, were prepared and ready needed. Parking at this facility is some of the best around and with all the shopping and eateries within easy walking distance this is a great place to be.

The Renaissance Arboreturn property is an excellent getaway. The hotel is located in the hills of Austin conveniently located near shops and restaurant. Once your car is parked, there is no need to move it until you end your stay. It's safe to walk to shops/restaurants at night. The hotel is very nicely appointed with 2 pools (1 inside and 1 outside). There is a gift shop and snack bar located in the atrium. Our room was located where we could look out over the atrium. Hotel staff was very nice. Rooms are spacious and nicely deocrated. Can't wait for my next getaway at this property.

Went for a 3 day business conference
The rooms were clean and well appointed but I didn't spend any time in it.
The staff were helpful in trying to track my lost luggage and all were very polite and pleasant.
They directed me to local shopping to replace my clothes & toiletries and suggested where I could find the best prices.
However if you want to go downtown it is a $35-$40 cab ride each way and the shuttle from the airport took an hour to make it.
My only issue was with the conference room that smelled musty and caused my alergies to go crazy. I was so stuffed up that even with antihistamines and decongestants I could not pop my ears on the plane and it took 10 days to get over it.

I stayed two nigths and found the hotel in good shape and the rooms were a standard room. I got one with two beds instead of a king but the hotel didn't seem packed to me so I wondered why I couldn't get the room I preferred. Check in was easy but they gave me the wrong information on what time they stopped serving food in lobby. Room service takes about 35 minutes so don't wait till it is to late to order. There are local resturants and shopping near by and the hotel is a conference facility but I didn't come for a conference. There is a Starbucks in the lobby to grad a quick breakfast and getting a taix is easy.

Room Tip: Make sure you taxi driver know where you are going before getting into the taxi. My driver couldn...
