Not only was the food first class, but the service was excellent. From Breakfast to dinner and the appetizers in between we were very impressed.

The Rustler Lodge Restaurant food is incredible. They have the best hash browns my husband had ever eaten. The breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious. Dinner offerings change every night and each night they are fabulous. They have incredible desserts and amazing sorbets, some of the best we have ever had. Breakfast and dinner are included in the cost of the room. The people who work at the Lodge make this the very best place. They redefine what "service" means. Kathy in the dining room went out of her way to make sure we got the type of food we needed for multiple meals. She constantly moves around the restaurant to make sure everyone has just what they need. We requested a very special diet and she conjured up the most amazing lunch, not on the menu. Everyone who works there has a smile on their face and they care passionately that you have the best stay ever. We ran a conference there, and asked where the attendees wanted to stay next year. Everyone agreed, and I do mean everyone, that Rustler is the very best place in the entire area. The Rustler Lodge Dining Room has the very best food.

Breakfast & Dinner are included with your stay and are not to be missed. The Breakfast Buffet has everything you could want from Yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals, Oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, French Toast, Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Bacon and an assortment of different breads & muffins. The Omelet Station has it all - so create away! Lunch is the best on the mountain - Thai Chicken Salad - yummy! Dinner is a gourmet feast filled with options from beef, chicken, fish, pasta, vegetarian, and even an additional menu of standards like spaghetti, chicken tenders, fish to create you own meal. Special dietary requests are encouraged if required. Creative desserts to die for along with some incredible homemade ice cream and sorbets. Portions are appropriate for a multi-course meal and in many instances quite large. The best dining on the mountain.

Really. Year after year it is fun to eat here. There is always a steak, burger, grilled fish or chicken and Caesar salad for the conservative eater, always grilled cheese and tomato soup for comfort, and always something new for the returning guest. This year one night's vegetarian special was a treat even for the carnivore among us. Who knew that quinoa comes in red and can be delicious? And for that carnivore there is rack of lamb on Fridays.

Seriously, the food is various, plentiful and always well prepared, whether sophisticated or simple.

Being my first visit to Alta I wasn't sure if I should believe the sandwich board sign stating the Rustler had the best lunch on the mountain. Take the tow rope to the chairlift to the Rustler and you'll be glad you did. It's rustic atmosphere reminded me more of the Adirondacks with the dark wood welcoming room. Nice sitting area and plenty of room to set down gear during your meal.
