“A terrific place to stay”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

The Rustler is a great ski lodge in a perfect location. Ski in/ski out onto the incomparable slopes of Alta. The lodge has all the necessities you would want for a ski vacation; clean, comfortablee rooms, a large and pleasant dining room, cozy bar, well run spa, geat pool and hot tubs, sauna, steam room, and a great exercise facility. Free interenet connectivity and good cell phone coverage a well. The food is terrific, the service is excellent, the staff is attentive and friendly.

I've skiied everywhere in Utah. If you aren't headed to Alta you should be. I've been in all the lodges at Alta, if you're not staying at The Rustler you're missing out.

I just returned from my second stay at Alta's Rustler Lodge and I know that I will keep returning. It is a true ski-in ski-out hotel that is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are spacious (by ski-resort standards), well-appointed, and very clean. Maid service is excellent, and the food was quite good (breakfast and dinner is included in the room charge), and suffers only from the fact that it is too plentiful. I was also impressed by the wine list (very well-chosen and reasonably priced). Access to the slopes was through a row of ski lockers on level with the outdoor slope, with return via Rustler's dedicated lift. The prices are high by Alta standards, but you get what you pay for; given the fact that the room includes free WiFi, 2 meals daily, gratis afternoon snacks, as well as the quality of the room amenities, the value proposition is excellent.

Perhaps the most remarkable and impressive aspect of Rustler was the extraordinary effort that the staff made to make my stay enjoyable. From the guest relations representative (Jackie), to the manager (Kate) to the owner (Steve) -- all were warm, friendly, and seemed passionate about their roles in making their guests comfortable and welcome.

Bottom line - in a ski area dedicated to the rugged athleticism of skiing as it once was, it is so nice to stay in a lodge that so capably attends to your comfort and convenience.

Excellent food - dinners and breakfasts are included and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and choice of selections. Staff was very sincere and helpful; they were genuinely friendly - when I went off to bed after reading in the bar John asked me if I wanted a glass of water. Many of the employees - and guests - have been there for 20 years so you get the impression of a family. As my first time there, I felt a bit like an interloper but that was quickly dismissed.
Lodge is comfortable; it is not luxurious but does have amenities like swimming pool, spa, gym, etc. Before dinner they serve hot appetizers in the bar. And there is always tea and coffee available. While rooms are expensive, I thought drinks, ski rentals, shuttle service was reasonable. When I ran out of deodorant, the front desk sold me some for $3.00. If you want nightlife or even a different restaurant for dinner, go elsewhere than Alta. Very down to earth place. Couldn't recommend highly enough. My only criticism is that the bar gets very warm when guests turn up for a drink and they start a fire in an already warm room.

The Rustler was the perfect get away for my husband and me. Would also have been fabulous if we brought our children. Staff could not have been nicer, ambiance fantastic, ski in and out so convenient. Really a terrific place in all regards. Can't wait to return.

I've been here two times, planning to go again this year and the next three! The lodge is so comfortable and homey, it makes you feel like you're in the coziest cabin. The rooms are so nice, no matter how big or small, they have the softest beds and the warmest couches. The amenities like the heated pool and the hot tub and the steam room are all so pleasant and relaxing after a full day of skiing. The restaurant is TO DIE FOR, with great staff, great food, and a beautiful view of the sunset. The snow is perfection, and the hotel tops it all off. TOTALLY WORTH IT.

Room Tip: -There are lots of great rooms, but rooms with good views get more sunlight and make you feel happie...

Simply an amazing experience- have stayed at three other facilities in the canyon and none compare to the Rustler Lodge. A ski in ski out lodge that provides great breakfasts and dinners, included in your stay, ski lockers and a full service ski shop. An indoor exercise facility accompanied by an out door pool, and indoor and out door jacuzzi. The full service lounge has ample seating, a fireplace and incredible views of skiers descending High Rustler, picture perfect sunsets to the West and the moon rising over snow covered peaks to the East.
The entire staff is over the top, they all ensure a relaxed yet elegant environment for all to enjoy.Children, parents, grandparents, novice skiers to powder hounds will all enjoy their experience at the Rustler Lodge. I'll guarantee you'll smile each and every time you reflect on your stay, I do!

Room Tip: Stayed in room 505 2 queen beds and a roll in for three adults, perfect, mountain view, quite, on ma...

This past trip was my first time to the Rustler and after staying at a few other locations in Little Cottonwood Canyon, I will be returning to the Rustler. The food was great with an incredible breakfast buffet and kitchen. It made for a great start to a day of skiing. The dinner menu was great as well. The staff was friendly and fun. It is a true ski lodge and they provide good clean rooms and good food for your ski trip. The atmosphere is great. I cannot say enough good things about the staff, they were all very nice and personable. The Rustler is a skiers ski lodge with everything you need for a ski vacation and nothing you don't. The lockers and ski shop at the exit door make grabbing your gear and anything you may need (i.e. quick ski tune, boot fitting help, sunscreen, etc.) very easy. When I return to Utah, I will be headed to the Rustler. My only complaint was that our room was often very warm, but I prefer things on the cold side, but it was easy to crack the window to cool things off and be very comfortable.
