“The most chilled skiers ski lodge in the USA!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2013

This is not the run if the mill ski hotel but it is a very special place to stay. Those that ski know the attraction of Alta and the Peruvian has been housing, feeding and watering generations of Altaholics.

There was not one single person I spoke to that had not stayed here multiple times. I had a queen room with an ensuite that over looked the ski slopes. Clean, comfy compact. The main lounge room has a nice open fire with lots of seating.

Meals are in the dining room and were substantial, fresh and very satisfactory. Its not haute cuisine but they do a god job feeding the tired and hungry three squares a day as part of your rom rate. The meals are served family style and you are mixed with other guests which is fun.

There is a big swimming pool and spa and most folk seemed to hit that afterwards for a swim and a soak after working hard on the slopes. Good lockers for skis, a shop on site selling all the necessary essentials along with ski hire if you need.

There is a super vibe here in a basic but brilliant property and I am looking forward to coming back and joining the regulars. If you like to your accommodation 5 star, someone to carry your skis, lots of staff at your beck and call this is not your joint. If you like god honest service, happy and interesting people hit the Peruvian.

just spent 5 days at Peruvian. used to live in sandy so never hoteled it in canyon. Nice. not fancy .. and if you want to spend lots of time in room .. don't do the peruvian. but i met some great people because they cater to people who love to ski and enjoy that type. food was really nicely done. freewheeling seating allows for people to get to know one another. lounge and bar is great .. and the hot tubs a ritual for all to share their frights and delights of the day on skis and other tales. whoever heard of FREE beer on friday night! . sheer genius. the staff was excellent and what great attitude .. you would too if you worked there and skiied Alta.
Here is the real difference. our roomate contracted a bad flu bug before arrival. by day 3 he was prostrate and really hurting. peruvian comped us a room to give him time to recoop and us to not contract and spread disease. kudos to the thoughtful management .. i will return whenever i can!

We had a wonderful ski vacation at the Alta Peruvian Lodge. The staff was friendly, but you knew they were working at the Peruvian so they could live life in the high peaks and take full advantage of all Alta and this majestic terrain has to offer. Wish I had done this when I was younger.

The resort has a nostalgic feel about it. The building is old and adorn with photos from long ago. The rooms are small but clean. The food was a step above dinner fair, but was part of the room rate and I didn't go to bed hungry. The hot tub, sauna, and heated pool were definitely the place to be after a long day of skiing for soak soar muscles and exchanging stories from your day on the mountain. The pace is slow, and it felt like I had been there before. It gave me a relaxed, safe, and comfortable feeling that I have not experienced at a ski resort before. Alta is a ski only resort, and I am sure this had something to do with it as well. The other guest were very friendly and helpful and most had been coming to the Peruvian for many years.

Special thanks to our bow tie and suit wearing shuttle driver. He was a touch of class and humor in one and you could tell he enjoyed what he was doing. We hope to return next year and would recommend the Peruvian for its charm, laid back atmosphere, and amazing skiing and natural beauty.

We went with 8 other friends and even though the mountain takes every ounce of energy from you after a long day of skiing, our evening conversations at dinner, playing ping pong in the game area, watching a movie in the conference room, or sitting in the lounge sharing pictures and enjoying the warmth of the fire, all added up to a vacation to remember.

Room Tip: There are rooms with mountain views, and being on the first level has better WiFi signal.

Homestyle family dinners where you get to meet the other guests are wonderful, the buffets are huge, and the warm chocolate chip cookies that are put out at 4pm are to die for! Since there are no TVs in the rooms, everyone gathers in the common room (or bar) to play cards, chat, or read. It is a great way to end a hard day of skiing. Staff is mostly young skiers so they are very friendly and helpful, one even made a new coffee drink creation - coffee, kahlua, godiva liquer and Baileys - heaven! The rooms are quite basic but the atmosphere rules!

The combination of Alta and the Alta Peruvian is as good as it gets for a ski vacation. There are different styles of ski vacations and if you care about the "village", " the scene" or need a 46 inch TV in your room, go someplace else. That is not an insult. As the bumper sticker says "Alta is for skier's". The Alta Peruvian is a great place to stay at Alta. The staff is universally pleasant and the food is very good, well excellent. I give the Chateau Whistler and the Alta Peruvian the same rating for very different reasons. It is in my opinion is great for couples and friend. For my family at this point (4 children) it would not be the best. This will not be the case in a few years, when I suspect they won't let me go with out them.

This place is a time machine! If you are looking for a super friendly, social, and fun place come here. My 18 year old son and I really enjoyed having dinner and breakfast with the other guests, This place is an old school ski lodge, family meals and spartan rooms. The heated pool is big and hot tubs are great. The nightly movies were fun. This place is great if you don't need a fancy room.

The staff is great and service at the restaurant was outstanding. The rooms are small and outdated but adequate.
