They advertise that they allow dogs, but when we showed up, they interrogated us about our dogs' behavior, size, noise level, etc. They were not friendly. The bathroom was too small to be functional. This is a $30 a night motel, and they charged us $130. Not impressed.

Do not stay here! Our room was overpriced, and gross! Do NOT stay here, it is a total rip off for the money they charge! Even if were CHEAP, or free, it would be a total rip-off!

I spent months carefully planning our first trip to New Hampshire and Maine. I had all rooms reserved ahead of time. However, on the trip back I was unable to do this because we weren't sure of departure time or length of travel in one day. In Vermont, I began calling and looking for rooms at various motels and hotels (some chains, some local). All prices were quoted well above 160.00 and some rose close to 230.00. We could not see paying that price for a bed for one night. We got off the main road and found the Yankee Village Inn at 75.00. I was worried because of the low price. It wasn't fancy but it was clean and worked for getting a good night's sleep before moving on. We were lucky to get the room because some reunion had filled up the motel. The young lady at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. This worked for us in a pinch.

Stayed on the Columbus Day holiday weekend. We were a little nervous after reading some of the comments but they were unfounded. The room was in the process of renovations but still clean and acceptable. We found a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker and a great gift bag! Yes, we had heat. It was set back from the road far enough to be quiet and we never heard the other guests on each side of us.

Loads of clean, sparkling white towels, comfortable beds, cable TV.

We would definately stay here again.

I visited Vermont in the fall. I stayed in this hotel for a night with my family. They had renovated most of the things in the room. The room had a brand new micro wave & a mini refrigerator, also. There are certain things in the room that are still not perfect - like the bathroom door wouldn't lock, bath tub was not very clean, carpet had stains. But, the room was good enough for a night stay. I was charged 108$ for a night stay. I felt it was a bit pricey. The hotel staff was good.

Things weren't as bad as it was stated in some of the other reviews (thanks to the renovations!).

Was not a bad hotel. Older but clean and having renovations done...new windows, paint, A/C. The staff was very friendly and it was very quiet. The hotel was booked, also, the weekend we were there...obviously not that bad.

This place isn't fit for man or beast. This was the most disgusting motel I have ever stayed at. There were exposed wires, scum, and just horrid conditions. I got back home to Ohio and called demanding a refund, but that was out of the question. I went as far as to call the Vermont Dept. of Health to complain. Vermont is dependent on tourist dollars and they don't need places like this to send those dollars across the N.H. state line which is only a few miles by car. Ascutney is a beautiful New England town, but with lodging like this, people will go elsewhere.
Thanks for you time
