My husband and I stayed here on Tuesday, June, 4, 2013. We had read the reviews online and were ready for an adventure to the past, but what we got was a completely satisfying experience. Let me just list it as pros and cons.
Pros:
Price: $59.00 per night or $66 with taxes
Large, clean room with comfortable beds, updated shower and long counter with separate sink.
Good air conditioner and plenty of hot water.
Quiet, safe area with parking outside our door.
Extras you won't get anywhere else:
Beautiful mountain views enjoyed from the chair outside your room that you can move under a tree for shade if you like.
Adjoining pasture with peaceful cows and even horses further off.
An old well kept family cemetery with graves dating back to the 1800's or more.
Wonderful scent of honeysuckle wafting down from the bank.
Cons: None. Really just things you need to do like bring your own shampoo and hair dryer. Also, eat a big dinner at one of the nice restaurants in Abindgon--we did Bone Fire SmokeHouse--so all you want for breakfast is coffee and cereal--either Rasin Bran for the adults or Frosted Flakes for the kids.
We plan to stay here again and make biking the Creeper Trail an annual event.More
