My husband and I were originally looking for a B&B in Charlottesville when we stumbled across Veritas Farmhouse, and from the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. The house itself is spacious and beautifully furnished, surrounded by picturesque vineyards and our room (Surrey) was just gorgeous. A standout was the personal service at the B&B - Patricia was so helpful with restaurant recommendations, ideas for nearby places to visit and even went out of her way to drive us to the start of a hiking trail so that we could finish the one-way hike at our car.

There was plenty to do in the surrounding area and it was a short trip (25 minutes) to go into Charlottesville for dinner one night and explore Monticello and the University of Virginia.

Special mention must go to the chef Joel who created absolute masterpieces for breakfast each day - we wished that we were there on one of the Farmhouse Dinner days as we would have loved to taste his dinner creations as well.

We could not have hoped for a better B&B experience and would recommend The Farmhouse at Veritas to anyone we know travelling to this region.

My wife and I spent our Anniversary, and visit to Monticello, at this most wonderful B&B. I must say, that it is the BEST B&B, that we have ever stayed at, all the way around. From our wonderful room, the Monticello, with the views of the vineyards, hills, the outstanding chefs, preparing absolutely incredible breakfast, like you would see at a 5 star resort. From the owners, Mr. & Mrs. Hodson, to the two chefs, Jonathan and Joel, as well as Jose, with serving, we can only say outstanding, outstanding, outstanding. Details were everywhere, including the lovely wine tasting, from their vineyard. We had to join the wine club, it was so wonderful. Just a very beautiful spot, all the way around, from the winery, to the setting of the B&B. Rooms were very large, and updated bathrooms, beautiful linens, and furnishings, throughtout. Deoorated of course by Patricia Hodson. Had an opportunity to spend some time with her, she is 1st class, and discussed the building of her large Gazebo, for wine tastings, and dinners, which they have on Thurs. Fri, Sat. eve. We hope everyone has an opportunity to experience this Classis Jewell, in a Vineyard, called the Veritas. You will not be disappointed, in any way.
My hats off to all, especially Patricia, it was wonderful for us..........

My wife and I truly enjoyed our two night/day visit to the Charlottesville area when we stayed at the Farmhouse at Veritas. We had heard about the this bed and breakfast from our prior visits to the Veritas vineyard- and we have been to Charlottesville many times over the years as it is one of our favorite places to visit. Normally we stay in town since we want to be around the restaurants and University. This time we tried this bed and breakfast which is only about 20 or 25 minutes out of town. Wow -the setting for the farmhouse is at the vineyard and you can wander/hike on several roads that meander past the planted hills which compose the vineyard. The best part, however, were the wonderful breakfasts cooked by the chefs. The food preparation was excellent, and we were served brillant gormet meals along with french pressed coffee, all served off of china. Apparently these two chefs(we had a different one each day) are the two chief chefs who coordinate, plan and oversee cooking of the meals for weddings and special events held at Veritas. We learned that they have a very busy business in that area and that they are well known for their ability to coordinate weddings and special events so are in high demand. This stay changed my thoughts about going to a bed and breakfast. We were allowed as much privacy in this house as we wanted, but had the opportunity to mingle with other guests since they had several dinning areas, and sitting rooms for the six or seven bed rooms available. We chose eating in the farmhouse kitchen so we could visit with the chefs who were very pleasant and courteous. All in all, an excellent and relaxing experience.

Loved this Inn... Staff and owners so friendly, but not "in your face" like many inns.. very easy place to "settle in to". Beautiful rooms,, bottle of sparkling wine with two glasses that we could take home.. Coffee all over the place and chocolate chip cookies... dogs sleeping in vineyards...
kind of set the tone for our entire getaway.

Room Tip: Stayed in Surrey... would recommend staying upstairs in this inn. If you are a heavy sleeper and ge...

My husband and I traveled with my sister and her husband to Afton for a two night visit to The Farmhouse at Veritas. We cannot say enough about our stay. The house and grounds are elegant and yet very welcoming. We stayed in the Derby room which includes a small sitting area with the bedroom in a loft. It was lovely having our own private area to visit and relax after enjoying some of the communal spaces in the house. The breakfast included three courses, freshly squeezed fruit juice, and a sparkling wine. Never having stayed at a B&B, we were a little unsure about what to expect - but the owners and staff were very fun and personable. The house is very convenient to the other local wineries, Shenandoah National Park (Skyline Drive) and downtown Charlottesville. We will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: In the summer - I believe sleeping in the Derby room could get quite warm due to the multiple skylig...

My wife and I stayed here this past weekend for 2 nights for a visit to Charlottesville, which is an easy 25 minute drive away. We wanted a change from the cookie-cutter hotels available in town and loved the descriptions on the inn's website and the other rave reviews. We stayed in the Surrey room, at the top of the stairs on the second floor, it was just as pictured; comfortable bed, spacious bathroom (down a short flight of stairs), and spotless, as if just built a few days earlier. Even better though was the hospitality shown us, with a complimentary 2 glasses and bottle of (Veritas) champagne in the room and a wonderful fresh-cooked gourmet breakfast each morning from Joel Walding, who was happy to chat and allow us to watch him cook. The staff was charming and we vowed that we would make the long drive to come back and enjoy another stay here.

My hubby and I spent 3 nights at the Farmhouse at Veritas for our 10th wedding anniversary and we chose well. We have stayed in a lot of top notch B&Bs and we class this one up there with the best. Why? The ambiance, the warm and responsive staff, the personable, fun and interesting owners (Andrew and Patricia, along with their equally delightful family who live and work on the Veritas property), the delicious meals prepared by Joel, Happy Hour, the beautiful house and grounds, the Veritas winery just across the field, the location surrounded by mountains... This is a perfect place, not too far from DC, to get away, relax and rejuvenate. Thanks to all who made our stay the perfect long weekend that it was. Cheers... Leanne & Rob Hankey
