Having grown up in Alexandria, Va, I know the Washington Masonic National Memorial very well. The hills are perfect for children sledding in Winter. The tour of the Memorial is exceptional and very memorable, a not to be missed "attraction" in 'Olde Town Alexandria, VA!!

Apparently I visited the memorial two hours prior to its opening hours of operation. So I got to sit off in peace, watch the traffic, and numerous people passing through the area walking to work. There is a really nice look off area there. The grounds are well kept so kudos to the landscapers

The murals and stained glass are beautiful inside. All the marble and granite are impressive. We didn't take the tour but imagine that would have assisted us to understand all the significance better.

We did not visit the memorial, however, it did stick out and so we googled it. Found out that it was the Washington Masonic National Memorial. They were doing construction on the memorial.
It is very pretty and probably seen from all over Alexandria.

For a grand building, it seemed like there could be more to offer those visiting. We missed the guided tour, but personally, I don't think there would have been much more to offer us save for the panoramic view. We grew quickly tired of corridors full of photos of other Masonic Lodges across the country and a lot of what was available about Washington, was learned at Mt. Vernon, so his Masonic life was just a little more history.
