“Great place to be snowed in! ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2014 via mobile

We anticipated only staying here for 2 nights but ended up staying for 3 due to the snow that shut down the area this past weekend. The front desk staff, Erika, checked us in and out and was very very friendly on both occasions. The breakfast was great and we found the chef to be very friendly! The rooms were clean and perfect for our group. Upon leaving my car battery was dead. The shuttle driver, I didn't get his name, helped us get my car jumped and was very helpful.
I only have 2 small negatives. On Saturday early evening (about 7 pm) none of the ice machines had ice. We were on the 5th floor and tried 3 other floors before finally just going to the bar. The other was the staff in the restaurant. Bc we were stranded due to the snow we ate in the hotel restaurant Monday evening. I found the waiter to be rude and condescending with an air of superiority. Despite those 2 blips our stay was great. You can't beat the location, rooms, and price. We will definitely be back!

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay and that the snow storm did not cause you undue stress. I appreciate you letting us know what you liked about our hotel and will forward your 2 small negatives ,which by the way, are not small to us at all, to the Food and Beverage Director and Chief Engineer for review. Thank you for your comments and we look forward to your return. Best Regards…MaryAnne Russell General Manager

Located across the street from the King Street Metro (blue and yellow lines -- two stops away from Reagan National Airport) the Embassy Suites is an ideal base for business or pleasure in Washington as well as in Old Town Alexandria. Most of the suites open off of a central atrium that gives the hotel a light and airy feel. Each suite has a living room with couch, stuffed chair, desk chair and a good work desk, a bureau and TV. There is a mini kitchen unit composed of a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and sink. The bathroom was functional and clean. The bedroom had a kingsize bed, TV, bureau and cabinet. The suite was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of selections including made to order eggs and pancakes. From 5:30 to 7:30 there was a manager's reception in which free snacks, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks were served in the atrium. My only criticisms are the lack of a safe in the room (there are safety deposit boxes behind the registration counter) and the charge for wifi. There is a very weak free wifi in the Atrium.

Stayed here two nights on a trip involving an event in downtown DC. The location is perfect - I flew into Reagan National, walked out and hopped on the Metro, and this hotel is a mere two stops south and right across the street from the station in the shadow of the Masonic Temple museum. Check-in was a breeze, and the rooms are fantastically large. The twin queens were comfortable, albeit a bit soft.

The breakfast bar, complete with an omelet station, was a very nice surprise. Everything was clean; this is a four-star hotel at a Budget Inn price. If possible, I would rate it a 4.5 - a small deduction for the really pathetic water pressure in the shower, and the wait to make sure hot water was flowing. I fiddled constantly with the faucet, until giving up and waiting a few minutes before the hot water came.

In spite of this small glitch, I would certainly recommend this for business, family, or friends visiting the world's best capital city.

Room Tip: I was close to the elevators, but never heard them. It was very convenient.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. I am pleased that you chose to stay with us despite the fact that your event was in Washington DC and that you were able to appreciate the convenience of our location and the services we offer. I will need to check with our engineering department to understand the water pressure issue you encountered, but remain pleased that this would not affect your decision to stay with us again. We stayed here mainly because it is right across the street from the Metro station and we didn't want the bother of driving into DC. The location for this purpose is perfect! The hotel rooms are, of course, suites with a lot of room to spread out. They offer a "cocktail" hour each night and beer and wine are complimentary along with pretzels, cheese and crackers and popcorn. The breakfast is included and the first morning we were greeted happily and our omelets were perfection. The second morning the omelets were below average and the chef not too nice. There were a lot of school groups there and the lobby was a noisy place but once you entered your room you couldn't hear a thing. The parking garage is attached to the hotel and the charge to park the car is $28.00 a night. Alexandria is a nice town to walk around in and there are a number of restaurants and historical properties to see.

Room Tip: They allow smoking on the second floor so we requested a room far from the smokers and were accommod...

Thank you for your review. I am pleased that your stay was enjoyable, although concerned that on your second morning with us, the omelet and the staff were not as perfect as the previous day. I will forward this review to our Food and Beverage Manager to ensure that both the service and product remain consistent. Best Regards…MaryAnne Russell General Manager

Thank you for your review. Although I can appreciate the efficiency of the front office at checking-in, I am sure that the Front Office Manager will review with her staff, the importance of friendliness as well. I hope that for your next visit you will be greeted with expediency and wonderful smiles. Best Regards…MaryAnne Russell General Manager

I come here a lot on business to the USPTO. I get here really early in the morning and they always give me breakfast, even if they don't have a room ready. The high speed Internet was solid and I needed it because my business was at the USPTO and it was closed the day I got there. So I got some good work done in the room. The furniture is always a little beat up. I had a premium room. The bluetooth radio and coffee maker were very nice.
The problems...
Part of the premium room's benefits were access to a refreshment center. I was there for four days. The refreshment center only had stuff in it on the third night. I had to ask for the code to be able to access it. So, basically, I paid for a benefit I couldn't use for most of the stay.
Also, I had been eating out every day until that third night and I wanted to eat in. The wait for food was a little bit ridiculous. At least they let me know ahead of time so I could get some food quickly.
Otherwise, a good stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and for your continued patronage. I am pleased that your stay was pleasant, however, concerned that you had issues with the refreshment center on the premium floor. I will have to review this information with our Front Office Manager to understand what might have happened. Should you be inclined to do so, please contact me at the hotel, I would very much like to speak to you about your stay. Best Regards…MaryAnne Russell General Manager

I would stay again and recommend this Hotel. The room was comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the manager reception each night and the cook to order breakfast is a real treat, and the food was good and you had excellent choices. I would recommend this Hotel to families and anyone who was looking for a good clean, friendly place to stay in the DC area. The Metro Station being right across from the Hotel is also a big bonus. Also would like to mention that the hotel offers a free shuttle to Old Town and that is also a bonus. Overall out stay was awesome.
