“Family Vacation”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

I would definitely stay here again. Great Value, Great location across the street from the Metro. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast was very good, buffet and a cook to order of omelets. The room was cleaned every night when we returned. My only complaint was we had a king suite, there were two desks in the room, but no outlets to plug in laptop.

Thank You Mack184 for such a glowing review. It’s not that you had so many great things to say I simply appreciate the fact that you enjoyed friendly service from the staff in many areas like front desk, housekeeping and our restaurant. I’m hoping that your family vacation truly was a success! Thank You

My family stayed here for 5 nights during our Washington DC vacation. What a nice hotel. Our room was huge. The beds, very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was wonderful. We ate dinner at the onsite restaurant, and the food was excellent. Location is great, right across the street from the Metro station. Vey convenient for sightseeing. We thought the price for all of this was very reasonable. Will definately stay here again

I am so impressed by this place . it is in a great location in Alexandria, right across the street to the metro Line to take you anywhere!. Alot of shopping and restaurants nearby. The Rate was amazing, as it included Parking and Breakfast. The parking garage is challenging, so if you don't have a car, your ok. Their breakfast buffet (did I mention complimentary !) is outstanding!! .
The rooms were large and modern. The hotel itself was just amazing.. First class operation

We have stayed in a number of Embassy Suites and have always loved them. I viewed the so so reviews of this hotel & thought how could an Embassy not be great. Well I'll tell you how. 1) When we went to our first room it had a horrible mildew smell - we switched rooms & it was a bit better but still had a smell. 2) The facility is old and the center atrium does not compare to other Embassy's with water features, etc. 3) The parking lot is crowded and tight. As I was checking out the man in front of us had his car hit & we had our car hit. 4) The breakfast is not good. The omelets are thin and the ingredients taste like they are out of a can. The other items - bacon…were also not good - had been sitting around. What this hotel does have going for it is the location is right across the street from the metro & you can walk into Old Town. Also, with a family the Embassy Suites space of two rooms is always nice.

It is unfortunate that your most recent Embassy Suites stay has left you with the impression that we are not of the highest quality when it comes to service, selection, value and overall cleanliness. Each Embassy is known for having a unique atrium with water features that represent influences from the local area. We went for a more serene, garden style versus a gazebo arboretum feel. Another signature feature, made-to-order breakfast, should always reflect the guest’s individual tastes. We strive to provide guests the freshest ingredients and choices, prepared exactly as you like. I would love the opportunity to share with you the level of service other guests have enjoyed during their stay and invite you to return. Please, reach out to me and allow us here in Old Town Alexandria to leave you with the more memorable impression we are known for. Thank You.

5 other friends and I took a mini-vacation to DC, and stayed at this hotel in Alexandria. We booked at least a month ahead to get a good rate, so with 3 of us per room, 2 nights the total was $151.00 each, not bad for what we got. We had thought about changing the King to 2 DB closer and the rate had gone up per room by $100.00, so kept what we had. Great access (across the street) to the Metro and FREE trolley service up and down King Street. We had free pick up offered by the hotel at the Amtrak train station (behind the Metro station, but with luggage better to use the hotel's shuttle) and drop off at the end of our stay. The desk clerk came and picked us up as the driver was sick that day, and she provided a lot of valuable information and was very friendly and personable. EX: get your Smart Ticket Card at the Transit office just 2 blocks from the hotel - as the $14.99 metro pass can't be used during am or pm rush hours. The fee for the card is $2.00, load the fare onto the card based on your use and is re-loadable.
The FREE breakfast is not your usual fare, lots of food choices, and even made to order omelets, pancakes, waffles, plus the regular choices cereals, bagels, juice, etc. There is also a FREE drinks (beer/wine) with snacks from 5:30-7:30 each night in their open air atrium. There is a bar with large screen TV in this same area. We never had time to use the pool as we thought we would, so I can't comment on that. The rooms are clean and well appointed. We had a King suite that has a separate bedroom, bathroom in the hall with a bar area opposite, that housed the sink, mini fridge, microwave, with a full length mirror and outlets. The living room was large with table and chairs, a full size pull out bed and chair. The couch/bed is leather and very comfortable to sit on, however, the bed is very FIRM and although I slept on it 2 nights it was not what I would call comfortable. 2 children could sleep on it and 2 adults could manage, but in trying to get comfortable, I slept diagonally on it. We had two rooms, so the person that slept on it in the other room, had the same problem.
The hotel is also convenient to King Street where many of the restaurants and shops are located. I filed a separate rating on the two restaurants we ate at, Bertucci's and Bistro del Sol (both good). The shops tend to be unique but pricey, but still interesting to browse...you never know when you mind find a good deal.
The only downside (and it worked out in the long run), is that depending on who you talked to at the front desk and when you called or talked to them, information on pick up and drop off shuttle service differed. Ask again if you don't get the answer you want, or go to the manager for clarification.

Room Tip: We had a room that overlooked the open atrium, very pleasant view. The bedroom overlooked the roof...

We are a family of 6 and this was a perfect hotel for us. Location is great - steps to Metro station. It was extremely clean. The made to order breakfast can't be beat. The nightly managers reception was a great way to relax before heading back out for a late dinner in nearby Old Town. Last but not least, the STAFF! These people truly care that you are having a good time in D.C. So full of information. Very attentive to our needs. They actually gave us an extremely laaaate check out because we weren't sure if we were going to get on our flight to go home. The told us to call from the airport when we got boarding passes and they would release our room and not charge us for that day! Customer Service - all the way!!! Special shout out to Patrice at the omelet station. Always a smile and a "good morning!" Not to mention her fabulous omelets! We are already planning our next trip back.
