“A great Alexandria find”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

We've been dining in Alexandria for years, but I never noticed this restaurant because the entrance to the hotel and restaurant are on a side path off Alfred Street--very elegant but unobtrusive behind a small fountain. We dined during Restaurant Week and are so glad to know this place. The waiter was super solicitous with great advice. The dining room was only half full on a Thursday night. The appetizers were unusual--vegetable terrine looked so pretty; escargot pastry light and flaky with great flavor. Scallops to die for and good, rich lamb pastry main courses. The mille feuille dessert is more peaches and cream than French pastry but good. A fine dining experience which we will repeat. There is also a more casual room with entertainment at 8 pm down the hall, which we didn't try.

“Excellent food, disappointing service”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

We reserved a table for a Saturday evening and arrived on time, only to find a wedding party being moved from the piano room to the separate dining area. We managed to catch the eye of a passing waiter to let him know we had reservations, but after a brief computer check, he disappeared and never bothered to seat us. The maitre d arrived after several minutes and apologized for our wait, but this was not a good way to start our dinner. If you're going to book a wedding party for your rooms, build in some cushion time for regular diners.

After being seated along with three other couples that were waiting, we found that only one waiter had been assigned to the entire room. The maitre d explained that he would be helping out, and he was very courteous, but that didn't help us get our drinks and food any faster. The meal itself was excellent (seared diver scallops and Amish chicken are must-haves), but it was difficult to get the attention of the waiter since he was serving the entire room.

For the price this restaurant is charging for drinks and food, we found the service below par. Not happy with the staffing or the reservation timing.

“Snobby maitre d and service”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

we went on NY Eve - food was wonderful but we were treated like second class citizens because we did not have a reservation. Then again, the restaurant had seating, so make a guess. This was our last try that night since we had not planned to be in town but got snowed in. We ate and went home

“Best food in Alexandria”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

The quality, service and presentation are excellent. The food preparation is perfect and the sauces and sides go wonderfully with the entree. Just exceptional and a must.
Halibut and scallops perfectly cooked.

“Great place until the Kareoke starts up”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

Very nice dinner, food was excellent. However, unless a fan of Kareoke, make certain your reservation is early enough that you will be through with dinner before those festivities start up at 9:00.
