I recently stayed at the Westin Alexandria four nights and received a good reduced rate as part of a block of rooms for a large wedding. The hotel is conveniently located, about a six-minute walk from a Metro station. If you use the Reagan National Airport, the Metro ride is a mere two stops. We had a king bed, and the mattress and pillows were perhaps the most comfortable I have ever experienced. All of the staff members I encountered were friendly and helpful.
Downsides: My room on the 4th floor was in a drab light well directly overlooking a roof--if you care about good views, I recommend that you take a look at a floor plan to make sure you're looking outward instead of inward.
Also, the bar and restaurant were attractive, but there was no separation between the two. When the bar was crowded during dinner hours, the noise level was too high for cozy dining.More
