I recently stopped by with a friend for what she described as some of the best Korean food in the area. Considering how stiff the competition for good korean food is in the area, this was a high compliment indeed.

The menu is simple and you pick from a few standards which you can modify to your own preferences. Even if you weren't an expert on Korean food you could find something that you liked. I went with the bimibop (i had to make up that spelling, but you could figure it out from looking at the menu), and was really pleased by the variety of fresh veggies and amazing tofu.

Service was fast and the prices were amazingly good, especially for how much food we got.

This is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

I got a Groupon $10 for $20 and came to try it out. The dishes came out quick and the food was delicious. However, the waitress never came to check us out after taking the order. I had to try hard to catch her or other waitresses' attention. I was going to order some dumpling after I finished my dishes, but I gave up after trying for 10 minutes.

Seafood tofu soup - Delicious and fresh.

Bulgogi - Awesome portion of scallion and onion accompanied the beef. But it gets a bit soupy. The flavor is there, but doesn't strike you as much as in a barbecued style.

Side dishes - These vegetable dishes are good to go. The bean sprout one can use more seasoning to develop a deeper level of flavor.

We stopped by Lighthouse Tofu for dinner on a cold Friday evening that rained and slowed down traffic in Alexandria.

The restaurant was spacious (no reservation needed). We were seated immediately. Restaurant was about 80% full and guests kept coming and going.

Service was quick. Meal was served quite quickly. And the food was well worth the trip. The beef tofu soup warmed the evening together with the array of kimchi dishes that came with the order. We also had pancake and calbi short ribs.

All in all, a great meal on a cold winter night.

This was our first visit to this place. We arrived about 6PM on a cold Sunday and were seated right away. It did get crowded around 7PM. We were served with hot tea right after we were seated. We did not know what to order so the waiter suggested Korean Beef short ribs ($20) & Tofu soup with seafood ($10). The sides came out right away about 6 different dishes (kimchi, pickled squash, tofu, etc). The rice comes in a hot iron croc, after they serve 2 bowls, they leave the crisp rice on the edge of the croc and pour tea into it. The beef came out and was very tasty & delicious. Soon after we finished the beef, the soup arrived in a hot iron croc. It had shrimps with the head on it, small clams and mussels. The croc kept the soup HOT. Great for a cold night! They refill the sides for free and no charge for tea. We thoroughly enjoyed it and had leftover soup & sides to take home. We had a Groupon coupon and will definitely come back at regular price. We did notice an egg pancake dish looked interesting and may order next time.

Hearty, delicious tofu soups make you keep wanting to come back here. The BBQ meat dishes are good, although not as good as at the special BBQ restaurants. Overall, a very satisfying experience, without the long waiting lines typical of good Korean restaurants in the area.
