“Best free "hot" Breakfast Buffet :-)”
Reviewed 6 July 2011

Of all the hotels I've stayed, this hotel has the best FREE hot breakfast buffet :-) During our stay here, there were different hot breakfast entrees and it was delicious!!! It was also very nice that we were able to get early check-in in the late morning upon the arrival. The 24/7 coffee in the lobby is very convenient and tastes great (so are the yummy cookies at the front desk). The full kitchen facility is so convenient that we were able to fix some simple meals with the stuff we got from Costco-Pentagon City on the way to the hotel from DCA airport. It saves lots of money from eating out. The parking is $14 per day (I heard it's reasonable in the area), and it's very secured (but the space is very tight, and we had some trouble "once in a while" to get the garage gate to open when we returned to the hotel). There are two PC & printers near the dining area and you can print your boarding pass, map/directions, etc. In the hotel room, there are both wired & wireless internet access through some ISP service (and you need to get the code from front desk to login). However, for some reason, my laptop was getting dropped from the service from time to time (despite many calls to the service company's technical support, or replacing the ethernet cable with another one, etc). It was an easy walk (a couple blocks, downhill) from hotel to the nearby Metro station; but it's quite a walk from Metro station to the hotel (i.e., uphill, especially when you were carrying some stuff, or tired after a day of events). Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel when you visit D.C. or nearby area.

I stayed here this past weekend for 2 nights and was generally impressed. The room was a great size and very comfortable bed. I didn't really need the whole kitchen set up but the rate was great (and much lower than the other places I've stayed in the area). It's an easy walk to the metro (right down the hill). Breakfast in the morning was fine. The staff works very hard to keep everything replenished but the room was packed on both mornings (so go early if you want a seat). They have two computers in the breakfast room for open use. My only suggestion is to provide more specific directions on how to get in and out of the parking garage. It was definitely a challenge the first time!

We have stayed here several times and found it very good. The rooms are comfortable, the wired internet is free, the breakfasts are ok, and the evening receptions are passable if you are on a budget. The daily parking fee is a little steep as it is throughout Rosslyn. It is a very convenient location, just a 5 minute walk from the Rosslyn Metro. If you use Zipcar (if not you should try it) there are cars parked nearby.

Room Tip: Reserve well in advance...popular hotel

This hotel is good for a stay of up to two weeks or so. The location is good, within easy walking distance to metro. The breakfast buffet is very good. The one bedroom suite doesn't have a lot of drawer space for a couple who have packed for a long stay, though. Also, the desk didn't always have tokens available to sell for the laundry.

We had reservations at another hotel (not a Marriott) that had such a terrible room that we immediately canceled that reservation and booked one at the Marriott Residence Inn. The front desk staff were so nice and understanding. They really went out of the way to help us. The rest of the staff are just as nice. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included as well as dinner. I think that the dinner is only offered during the week.

You are within a 5 minute walk to the Metro, 20 minute walk to Georgetown plus there is a Starbucks right across the street from the hotel. This hotel is in a great quite location. We would stay here again.

1. My 1st impression was bad because my room wasn't completely cleaned. The toilet was dirty with stains, the tub drain was dirty, the shower curtain had red/blood stains on it, the dining table was dirty, there was hair in the vanity drawers & the outside of the fridge had brown stains dripping down the front. After it was re-cleaned on the 1st day, the hair was still in the drawers & the fridge was still dirty & it remained that way for a week even after additional cleanings. I just gave up!

2. The room could use some updating. The couch's cushion was sagging & the bathroom vanity’s finish was peeling. It appeared that they updated w/granite countertops but forgot about the base cabinets. The mattress was awful but the pillows were great! I had a hard time sleeping on that bed.

3. The phone wasn’t working right. Sometimes the calls would come thru & sometimes it didn't, it would just ring once & start clicking. They sent the maintenance man to look at it but he obviously didn't know what he was doing. He just asked the front desk to call the room & the call came thru. So to them the phone worked. Of course I missed business & personal calls. Finally, I did some investigating & told the front desk that the phone jack behind the nightstand was basically hanging out from the wall. The tech. came back, replaced the jack & I didn't have anymore problems. This was the after 3rd/4th day though!

4. The food staff was very attentive & welcoming! Whereas, when I made a complaint or request to the front desk it seemed like I was a bother to them & that they didn’t care…

5. The free breakfast was a nice perk but don’t expect much. It’s just a “hot continental breakfast” though (eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, breads, fruit, milk & juice).

6. The free dinner (Mon. – Wed.) was just okay. The menu changes everyday and is very limited. They also, offer free cookies in the evenings.

7. The online pics make your room & most areas of the hotel seem much bigger than they really are. For example, the dining area is combined with the tv area & the “business/computer center” all in one.

8. Great location to train & bus line. Next time I’ll probably stay at the Capital View since it’s a newer hotel & I was told that it’s much nicer than the Rosslyn/Arlington location. I would've changed hotels but it would've been to hard to go thru my employer & most hotels were booked anyway.

9. Free wifi but the connection dropped & was slow often.

Superb hotel located in Arlington VA with easy access to The Metro and Georgetown. Residence Inn is part of the Marriott family so we were able to book our stay on accumulated Reward Points. We were originally booked in the Key Bridge Marriott which is a smidgen closer to the Key Bridge, but does not have the room size of the Residence Inn properties. We stayed in a studio suite, which comes in at a whopping 406 square feet(the typical hotel room is half that!). We travelled with two small children (3 and 1), so having room enough to strategically position cribs was a factor--there are enough alcoves in the studio suite to easily accomplish this. There are also 1 and 2 bedroom options available, but I would book early in advance for those. The price for our room was a bit heavy at $300 per, but it, as I mentioned, we used our Rewards Points so we didn't feel a thing. The hotel is in Virginia, but so close to the border that a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, over the Key Bridge and you're into the Georgetown section of DC. There's a Metro stop a 4-5 minute walk from the hotel in Rosslyn, and a good selection of restaurants close to the hotel if you don't want to travel too far. The DC monuments and museums are 6 stops from the Rosslyn stop. The rooms come equipped with a kitchenette--two--burner stove, fridge, sink, dishwasher, and microwave. There are laundry facilities on certain floors as well. The workout room was decent-sized, and came equipped with cardio machines and free weights. Also, a big perk with Residence Inn properties--the complimentary breakfast every morning. Waffles, eggs, oatmeal, omelettes, fruit, juices, homefries, etc. They have also started complimentary dinners Monday through Wednesday! What other hotel chain can you find this? One of my pet peeves with hotels is the paper thin walls. Hearing random strangers go about their day is not something I'm in to. Not a problem here. They must have insulated between the rooms because I barely heard a muffled voice at best. Parking is $14 a day with in and out priviliges. They also have free high-speed internet service. All in all, a great stay.
