After searching for a hotel close to the metro that was affordable for our budget, we chose the Americana Hotel. Beware-it can be tricky to find because if you blink you might miss the exit from the highway. When we checked in we weren't able to connect to wifi so the staff let us switch to one of the newly renovated rooms. The rooms were clean but nothing special. It was a quick walk to the metro and there is a free shuttle that we used to go to travel locally as well. The staff was friendly, breakfast was good and the location was perfect!

Room tip: It's worth upgrading to a renovated room.

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. We're glad to hear you appreciated our affordable rates, clean rooms, convenient location, friendly staff, and valuable free amenities. We do apologize for the initial trouble you experienced with the Wi-Fi but are pleased to hear we were able to remedy the problem in a way that was acceptable to you; we also agree our renovated rooms are worth the very small upgrade fee!

Thank you as well for pointing out that it can be a little difficult to find us. Unfortunately for us, an exit ramp and raised highway was built across the front of our property, so we've been forced to create and use an entrance on the back of the property. For other guests who are trying to find us and having trouble, please call 703-979-3772 and we'd be glad to help!

Thanks again for staying with us and letting others know of your opinion. We hope to see you again the next time you're in the Washington, D.C. area!

Sincerely,
Your friends at Americana Hotel

Pros: cheap, clean, free parking, shuttle

Cons: breakfast is very limited, rooms are HOT, halls are sweltering

I just can't get comfortable in a hot room. We requested a fan the first night and were told to call maintenance in the morning...so the first night - no sleep. It was cheap and clean, but the window unit just couldn't cool the room. I would not stay here again because of this.

This was a wonderful stay for my wife and I during our recent trip to DC. All of the staff was very helpful, the hotel is in a great location very close to the Chrystal City Metro, and the complimentary breakfast and wifi were wonderful extras. We will definitely stay again on our next visit.

I booked this hotel solely on the reviews from this website and I'm so glad I did! My family of four just returned from a 6 night stay at the Americana. First and foremost, our hotel room was CLEAN. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms for $10 extra dollars a night which we were told was one of the renovated rooms and it was...looked just like picture on their website. The beds were comfortable, room decorated nicely, mini fridge, flat screen tv. The lack of countertop space in bathroom was the hardest to get used to but we managed. Continental breakfast was free and adequate - donuts, bagels, cereal, oatmeal and fruit. The biggest reason we chose this hotel was the close proximity to the Metro. It was less than 2 blocks to access through Crystal City shops via the Marriot hotel. The shops were convenient (RiteAid, restaurants, Starbucks, post office, etc). There's also a Commuter Store there that we went to first to actually talk with a physical person about the Metro and purchase our fare cards. The staff at the hotel was always friendly - helpful, asking if there was anything we needed. We were very happy with our stay. If considering this hotel make sure to read through lots of reviews so you know exactly what you're getting. It is a basic hotel - no pool, restaurant, fitness center, etc. We needed a clean place to sleep because we were site seeing. This hotel fit the bill! There is no way that I would pay double the price and pay for parking across the street. We will definitely stay here on a return trip DC! You can't go wrong with The Americana!

Room tip: Pay the extra $10 for deluxe/renovated room.

I paid about $109 per night in this older hotel. Does not look very appealing at first impressions, but was pleasantly surprised with friendly staff, clean rooms, and EXCELLENT location here in Crystal City. Two blocks from subway station inside Crystal City Mall. Parking was free but parking spots were narrow and awkward. Thus, the price? Privately owned and operated. I would definitely stay here again if trying to stay below $150 per night.
