This hotel is convenient (public transpiration just outside), beautiful, close to everything, staffed with helpful and friendly staff, and a wonderful choice for a large conference. Enjoyed the trip and hotel!

I visit DC annually to visit my father at Arlington National Cemetery. My wife and I have stayed in some great locations in DC itself, but for future trips and for our purposes, the Ritz/Pentagon will be our hotel of choice. We'll have to rely on weekend specials to access the hotel as the business week prices are exorbitant (major factor in my 4/5 dot rating), but the professionalism and civility of the staff at this hotel are outstanding and we will return whenever possible.
Access to/from National airport and major highways to explore Virginia and Maryland are just a couple blocks away. The metro is literally right outside the front door so accessing DC without a car is a snap. We really liked being across the river from DC and only venturing in for short, well defined spurts. We used the car to explore a much broader area and the day we visited my father, Arlington National was virtually right around the corner. We never drove the car inside the belt, and it was great.
The hotel is aging, but is really nice and really well maintained. Large rooms and...it is a Ritz...nothing shabby about it at all...they remain top notch hoteliers. The issue with the elevator you may have read about in some previous reviews has been resolved. No waits...ever.
Spa and locker rooms were very Ritz...very nice. A less than grand lobby area is however beautiful and highlighted by pink marble floors and crystal chandeliers. There were many eateries of all price ranges in the immediate area and we mainly only ate breakfast at the hotel. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was very good, albeit pricey. There are no spectacular grounds, but considering it's location and the adjoining fashion center mall, it fits in very well with the area.
The Ritz is a winner and we will hope to be back again and again.

Room Tip: Communicate with the hotel and let them know what you need...they will do everything they can to mak...

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton for 5 days. The service from the hotel stay was excellent. We had breakfast at the in-house restaurant on most days. On three consecutive days we were served grapes (which we did not order) with fungus. We pointed this out on each day. On the last go around, we escalated the issue as we were concerned about the quality of the food in their kitchen. The restaurant manager tired to make things right by bringing up a cheese platter.

The property itself is next to the Fashion Center at Pentagon City. Great location next to Nordstrom. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great. There were two things I found very odd. (1) The pool is only open from 6:30 - 9:30 am and 4:30-9:00 pm during the week. (2) The room service "All Day Menu" stops at 11 pm when the Late Night menu picks up. The late night options are few and not good choices at all. The breakfast buffet was $28 - omelet was wonderful but not a lot of other items to make it a $28 buffet. I like this property because you usually see some interesting foreign dignitaries in their native dress. If you can get a good rate it's a good choice. Just make sure you eat at one of the restaurants near the hotel.

So, this Ritz-Carlton is a big rundown (as compared to other Ritzs), but my room was clean and the location was great. This hotel is right near the mall and the metro. If you get a good rate, this place is worth it.

This hotel had a nice government rate (you have to call the hotel directly when booking) so we opted to stay here because we love Ritz Carlton's and couldn't pass up a good deal. We were not disappointed. You definitely aren't in the middle of the action if you are a tourist but you have a very easy walk to the Metro and within 10 minutes or less, you are. The room was typical Ritz Carlton, well appointed, clean, spacious. The bed was comfortable. City view was nice of the surrounding area (a mix of business and condo buildings). We arrived pretty late and the airline lost our bags. We were pleasantly surprised that a mall was so close (within about two to four blocks-it was late, I can't remember exactly how far it was but it was an easy walk even after a flight) and still open so we could catch a late dinner and pick up a few essentials to tide us over until our bags were delivered.

Staff was friendly. Our rate included breakfast and it was good. Not outstanding but an above average hotel breakfast that I would eat again.

Overall, I would stay again. This wasn't a luxury Ritz Carlton property but it was still pretty nice but hotel standards.

The Ritz Carlton Pentagon City was a great place to attend a conference. The location was right at the Pentagon City Metro stop and has direct access to the Pentagon City mall. The conference room worked out very well with really good chef inspired meals. The room was clean and the front door and lobby personnel were really attentive and professional. I would highly recommend this hotel if you can afford the nightly rate.
