Okura Act City Hotel Hamamatsu
Certificate of Excellence

I stayed at this hotel twice during the latest three years. It was perfectly clean and well kept. The rooms are sufficiently spacious and offer nice views over the city, as the hotel is quite a tall building. The interior is perhaps a bit impersonal, which is on the other hand typical for this kind of big hotels. But everything was in perfect condition.
A nice sky lounge is available as well. The hotel is conveniently close to the central station and to one of the areas where to enjoy your evening, with plenty of restaurants and bars.
The personnel is extremely professional and helpful. I did not try the gym or the spa.
No doubt such an hotel in Europe or USA would have costed twice as much.

Stayed for 3 nights recently. Reserved Deluxe room with breakfast. The room was ok in size but severely dated. The things that just killed me were nearly $40 USD a day for use of a gym? The internet was wired and did not work most of the time in the room. For a hotel with such a large convention center it is ludicrous not to have wifi in the rooms. Breakfast buffet although fairly large, was a bit second class with plastic cafeteria trays, and relative average quality food. The staff had very weak command of the English language and could often do little to help. Although it may be the better hotel of Hamamatsu it is a far cry from other hotels in the larger cities.

Hotel was a good value and the only place to stay in Hamamatsu. Free internet through ethernet cable connection in the rooms which was a nice option since I had brought my computer and free WIFI in the lobby. Staff and service were excellent as expected. The hotel has a musical theme which was appropriate for the area that you are in. The bakery in the bottom floor of the mall beside the hotel had great pastries.

I visited the hotel as a guest of the japanese government, so I don't know if it is value for money or not. It is an amazing hotel with very comfortable beds, slow music by bed-side, amazing view from the window and super fast and comfortable lifts. It has a LAN cable attached to every room and the hotel lobby has an unrestricted WIFI with super fast speed. I am an indian and got a very good restaurant in the hotel basement. Outside the hotel is a peaceful place and totally secure ( whole of Japan is safe!!). Hotel has a good shower with temperature adjustments. The tallest building in hamamatsu and it can be viewed from almost all parts of the city.... Go for it!!!!

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view of window

Okura Act city hotel is the tallest building in Hamamatsu guaranteeing all guest great views of the city. The rooms are also nice and big, something not common in Japan.

Being right next to Hamamatsu station makes it very convenient as all kinds of shops like BIC camera, may one and Entetsu are all within walking distance.

Service from all staff are good and personal. There is a very nice spread for breakfast and there is free WiFi in the lobby and free wired Lan in the room.

The rooms are fairly reasonably sized and basic, good bed. The bathroom is reasonably sized with good shower, there provide Sheseido body bath & shampoo. FREE WIFI at lobby.

In Hamamatsu, there is a fair bit of hotel choice. The Okura is a great name in Japan hotels, and they certainly charge for the priviledge. The Okura is very conveniently located right next to Hamamatsu JR Station, including the Shinkansen (note: only the Hikari and the Kodoma Shinkansens stop there, the Nozomi super- express passes it by.) If it's pouring down rain, there is a way to get to the hotel entirely under cover. The hotel sits on top of the ACT City office complex, so the lowest room is at 32 floors - no such thing as a bad view here.
But while the room was large by Japanese standards, the service and amenities were mid- level. The bathroom amenities were not up the the top- rate room charge, and the breakfast was good but in the two days there they frequntly ran out of some items and only replenished them if asked. One example: they ran out of sugar for the coffee at the coffee station (no sugar, salt or peppar on the breakfast tables.) When I asked for more sugar, they brought a single packet, even though several people were waiting for sugar when they heard me ask. This should never happen at a top- rated hotel. So next time I will stay elsewhere, save money and get pretty much all that I got at the Okura.

Room Tip: The lowest floor is 32, so all the rooms are quiet and with a great view
