This is a rather tired hotel which appears to be run by an aging family of former sergeant-majors! We had a good sleep in comfortable beds, in a room with windows that opened. The room and the bathroom were rather shabby. Breakfast is served until 8:30 and they mean it! A sharp phone call at 8 told us to hurry up and get down to the dining room. The breakfast was ample and good. Checkout is at 10 and again, same thing! Phone call at 9:30 reminding us to get ready to leave! It reminded me of some youth hostels I had stayed in in my youth- bearable, but a far cry from the legendary Japanese customer service one normally experiences. As a 70 year old myself, I have some sympathy for the effort it takes as one gets older to run an establishment like this, but my Japanese daughter-in-law was appalled.
