“Traditional Japanese Experience”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

If you are looking for a 5 star resort hotel experience, do not stay here. However, if you want an authentic, traditional Japanese hotel experience, this is definitely the place. The rooms are minimal, you sleep on floor mats, each room has a little garden area, you must remove your shoes before entering the hotel. They also serve you an AMAZING and huge Japanese style breakfast in your room first thing in the morning. It's all a little weird at first (especially the sleeping on the floor part if you're not ready for it), but this is definitely the place to stay in Kamakura, especially if you want a true Japanese experience. It is also close (walking distance) to the beach, the local railway, and all the sites, shops and restaurants in Kamakura.

Room Tip: Get breakfast included with your stay, but pass on the included dinner. You'll want to get out a...

Me and my husband stayed there for one night there and it was a good experience.

Location: location is very good, close to electric train station 1 mins , very close to beach 3 mins walk, a short pleasant walk away 5 min walk to Big Budda which is also the trail head for the hiking trail. It has easy access to convenient store and restaurants.

Rooms: This Ryokan has private bathroom and toilet in each room, it has Japanese style room and western style room (which is an interesting combination to me). The room is spacious and comfortable. The hotel bath is standard Japanese bath. It has a big banquet room and it hosted a Japanese wedding reception when we checked in so I guess food must be really good :D

Food: The food serviced (dinner and breakfast) were very nicely prepared, it may not the BEST Ryokan Japanese food we had but it is pretty good. Breakfast is nothing special so if you are staying for multiple days, there is no need to get breakfast and dinner for everynight.

We will recommend this place to friends who come to visit, it is one of the most expensive hotel in Kamakura but if you want the authentic Japanese Ryokan experience in Kamakura, I think it certainly won’t let you down.

Room Tip: Get Japanese room if you want authentic Japanese Ryokan experience.

This is an ideal place to stay when visiting Kamakura. It is close to some of the more important sights in Kamakura but also close to the light railway to travel into central Kamakura. The food is excellent and the rooms large and comfortable. If you're flying overseas, this is a wonderful location for your last night because the Narita Express is one stop down on the JR Line.
