Hirosaki Park and Castle
Aomori was the Cruise ship port stop for railway access to the famous Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival in May.
The Park was a Kaleidoscope of Pink and White Cherry Blossoms and was full of activity.
Food and Craft tents lined the major routes within the park adding to the Festival atmosphere.
The Hirosaki Castle of course is the focal point and is beautiful when surrounded by all the trees in bloom.
I cant imagine a nicer time to visit Japan. Seeing the Cherry blossoms in full bloom is one of natures wonders.

Great park with free access, lots of places to picnic or play sports. Cherry trees to admire in summer. Some historic buildings are inside the park, but it's mainly about the cherry trees and maple trees and getting away from the bustle of city life. Long walk from the train station, so take the loop bus if your legs can't take it!

Lovely! Went during the winter, our visit was quite rushed (we had to catch a train to another place), but nevertheless enjoyable. It was covered in snow and it was perfect!

Really enjoyed the park at a time when the Chrysanthemum and Fall Foliage Festival was on display.

The day we went was very very quiet, with hardly anyone around which suits us fine. Its a nice relaxing walk around the three moats and all the paths around the park, which included Japans oldest Somei Yoshino cherry blossom tree. Many of the trees were in full autumn colours which were stunning.

Must admit it was not as big as I expected, but worth an hour or two.

Spectacular gardens within the Hirosaki Castle area. Spend a few hours wandering around the various areas then check out the main castle area. Also good to explore by bicycle. The lotus pond was a stand out view and in spring time the cherry blossom avenue walk along the boating lake would also be spectacular.
