As most beaches in Maceió, the reefs turn the sea into a giant salty pool. Barra de São Miguel is not as crowded as the neighboring beaches of Francês or Gunga, and the water is deliciously cooler. Prices on bars are more reasonable as well. There are people renting canoes, kayaks, and paddle swan-shaped boats. Praero restaurant is on the south end of the beach, and offers the best structure for the tourist. The only (serious) problem is that its toilets are those chemical ones we see in street marathons.
