Manaus Hoteis - Millennium
Ranked #13 of 47 Hotels in Manaus
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Upon arrival we were given rooms on a ground floor level overlooking the car park. The hotel was busy (FIFA World Cup) and understandably had to fill all of the rooms. The thought of a five day stay overlooking a car park wasn't something that appealed and so we politely but firmly requested that our rooms were changed. It took a little while, but eventually, and with good grace the reception team changed our rooms to the 9th floor and the views were pretty good.
Our rooms were fairly well maintained and we were happy with our stay.
We found the breakfast to be quite basic, but to be fair some of the items changed every day, and so there was always something different to try.
The hotel was well placed next to a modern, but small shopping centre, and its location suited us because it was an easy walk to the stadium, but for everything else it was necessary to take a taxi.
We really enjoyed Manaus. We met some lovely people and went on great excursions and were happy with the Millennium as a base.

Room Tip: The rooms seem to get full sun or total shade. Ask for one to suit your preference.

Right, if you haven't been to Manaus (or Brazil), lower your expectations of what you think a 3-4 star hotel is. It's clean, you'll feel safe, it has a nice rooftop but the rooms are very basic. Check in staff speak English and are friendly.

Worst part: the restaurant. Breakfast is good but dinner was horrid. The service was terrible and the waiters didn't really speak much English which didn't help. It's expensive and the food was not good at all. Avoid if you can.

Plus point: all taxi drivers know the hotel and it's in a good central location and near a modern mall.

Small details: our safe wasn't actually fixed to the wall so you could just pick it up and walk out with it. Air con didn't work in first room but they were more than happy to change rooms for us.

Got the feeling this was one of the better hotels around. If it's just a short stay or your access point to the Amazon, you won't be disappointed. Giving it 4/5 with this area in mind.

This hotel feels safe and has good service. The rooms are good, not great (think a standard best western in Canada) and the breakfast has a good selection. The attached mall is a nice bonus and there are other malls nearby. Taxis know the hotel. Manaus in general is a nice city to visit. Definitely check out Ponta Negra -- fan fest is awesome if you're here during world cup, but the area is nice regardless. Also visit the historic downtown and do an amazon tour. Try all the local fruits and fishes!

We spent 4 nights in this hotel in june 2014, we chose this hotel as it is not to far from the fifa Manaus stadium. The hotel was next to a shopping center and medical center, the rooms were comfortable and clean, breakfast which was included was good with plenty of choice. The staff are helpful and friendly.

Having read the review here I was expecting far better and although this is an OK hotel it is really not that good.

The positives:-

The hotel has free wifi
It is located next to a shopping mall
The rooms are clean and the bed comfortable
It has a small roof top pool
Felt safe

The negatives

The rooms are look tired (mine had paint peeling, a tap that would not turn off)
The wifi is very slow
The attached shopping mall is small and not very interesting. There are much better ones in Manaus.
The check in process took 1 hour (there were only 3 people ahead of us)
Sax, the restaurant, is OK for breakfast but otherwise is soulless in the evening.
Unless you speak Portuguese, you may have trouble making yourself understood to staff

The main attraction is that it is the closest decent hotel to the football stadium (although an Ibis is opening next year round the corner).

It is about 20 mins cab to the Opera House and 25 mins to the airport

Stayed 3 nights, main purpose was a transit point for our Amazon tour

Pros:
- English speaking staff, efficient check in
- Decent breakfast with an early start of 6am, handy if you are jet lagged!
- good gym with steady treadmills
- nice roof terrace pool plus whirl pool and sauna
- decent accommodation – clean and spacious rooms
- good location – not from airport, and next door to a shopping centre and a 10 mins walk from another one

Cons:
- attention to detail poor, for example different size glasses and plates at breakfast
- breakfast was adequate but I’d be expecting more from a business type hotel
- reception staff were not all English speaking, most of the staff did not speak any English

Spent in total two nights at this hotel, one night coming in to Manaus and one night before flying out. The first night we got a relatively poor room on the second floor, but the second night we got a room higher up that was a lot nicer. The hotel is adjoined to the Millennium Shopping mall, which was very nice and made it easier when getting something to eat (if you don't have the time to explore Manaus, of course).

Room Tip: Don't settle for low floors, seems the higher up, the better the room standard.
