We needed a one night room prior to our jungle excursion and this fit the bill nicely. Nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either. They are very nice and helpful. Very good English speakers although I'm ashamed not to be as fluent in any other language as these hotel clerks are in English.

The location is good being in the centre and close to places to eat and the markets. The rooms are very small. I was there for one night only which was fine as it's very no thrills and breakfast is very average. However I don't recommend staying there if you intend to stay in Manaus for a few days.

My wife & I spent one night at this hotel on a recent trip to Brazil. Thankfully it was ONLY one night! It is conveniently located near the famous Opera House (Teatro Amazonas) & a short walk to the large market, both of which are worth visits if you're ever in Manaus. That said, the Hotel do Largo is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. After checking in, we were escorted to our room (214). First impression was a pungent odor emanating from the room. Second impression was the spartan-like room itself (bare walls, a window that could not be opened, old furniture, etc.). Felt almost as though we were in a dungeon. College dorm rooms are much better than this. Third impression was when the bell hop started spraying bug spray all around the room & bathroom, we saw all kinds of "critters." Had to remind ourselves that this is only for one night & we will be fine. We immediately left for a walk around the area, hoping that when we returned the bugs would be dead & the smell would be gone. No such luck! Fearing we might get sick from the awful odor, we requested & were granted a different room (224). No smell & no apparent infestation of "critters"! However, the safe did not work (for which one would have to pay 2.1 reals to use) & we had constant internet connection problems (free Wi-Fi is great IF it works). Decided not to try a third room. Later that evening I noticed a small puddle of water accumulating under the AC -- condensation seepage. Had to quickly move a suitcase to avoid further issues. My wife took a shower, & then we had a new puddle of water as the shower door was broken. Had to ask for more towels to handle the 2 water problems. When I informed the hotel staff of all the problems, they did not seem too surprised & told me that they would inform the appropriate departments. The buffet b'fast was decent. However, a good location & b'fast do not come close to outweighing the many negatives of this place. Find another hotel!

Two retired couples spent one night here prior to an Amazon Premium Clipper cruise. Manaus is a tired, old city. We chose this hotel for its location close to the Teatro Amazonas. Rooms were on the small side with a small TV & fridge. I borrowed a hair dryer from the front desk; only bath amenity was a bar of soap. No sink stopper & no wash cloths (we bring our own). Twin beds were okay; we had expected a queen. Our friends' room was inhabited by countless ants. The clerk sprayed the room but it was uninhabitable. They got the 'last room' which really shouldn't have been rented out; it had a bad smell & the a/c dripped. Their experience was not as good as ours...Small breakfast buffet downstairs but adequate with fresh fruit, eggs, breads, juice, etc.
Teatro is closed on Sundays; we took a 1/2 hour tour Monday about noon. Half price for seniors (5 reals). Also walked down & back to the waterfront, visiting the vast markets with fresh fish, veggies, fruits & handicrafts. Plus all the activities along the river (assorted boats).
It costs 100 reals per trip for 4 (in a van) to travel from airport to city center, from city center to Tropical Hotel (start of cruise), & from Tropical to the airport. I think the price for 2 in a cab (which would never hold 4 w/ luggage) is 58 reals per trip.

Room Tip: Quiet street; we didn't hear any noise at night.

It is a nice hotel, the room is not big, but is very effective, with good bed , good clothes , split, and a good breakfast with a nice choice of juice, fruits and typical food. It is very close to the historycal center. The receptionist Kemel is very attentious and gave us many tips about restaurants and going around.

Small hotel but very well located in Manaus's Centre. Simple and clean, reasonable coffee daily and approximately $ 65.00 per person. Good agents.
Two blocks from the famous Amazonas Theater opened in 1896.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter

I have to say, that I read other folks' reviews before staying at the Hotel do Largo in Manaus, and the reality seemed turned from what I expected. We stayed there on two different nights, before and after a kayak trip up the Rio Negro. I can't comment on the pricing, since we didn't survey the other hotels in the area, but I can say:

Hot water? No. Turning the "hot" tap on resulted in lukewarm water. Didn't matter how long you left it on,or time of day. We took showers at 4 AM, and still didn't get hot water.

Internet? Yes, but it ran at dial-up speeds. It was truly awful, and barely sufficient for checking in to our airline reservations the night before. As with the water, time of day didn't seem to matter.

Wall sockets? 1, and it was taken up by the mini-fridge. Good thing I had a plug strip for those things a business person might want to power, like a computer, or a phone charger.

Printing? Like for a boarding pass? Extra cost option. Really?

Breakfast included? Yes, but the room where breakfast was served opened onto the underground parking garage, and the staffing bringing in food and crockery seemed to need to pass through that garage, treating us to exhaust fumes, and tire screeching each time.

The first room we (there were 2 of us, hoping for a queen bed) got was equipped with 3 tiny beds. I'm only 6' tall, but my feet quite literally hung off the bed.

The second room had a queen bed, but there was an uproar of noise from outside the window. We had a 7 AM flight the next day, so I went down to ask about the noise. Would it quiet down any time soon? Was there a bar, and what was its closing time? The fellow at the desk grudgingly admitted that it was a very noisy neighbor, and an ongoing problem. They shifted us to a third room. Why allocate that room at all, it it has a known problem? They knew we had a taxi scheduled for 4:50 the next morning. The third room had 2 twin beds. All rooms had the same water and internet issues.

There is no proper room service. You are provided with a card listing a number of restaurants that deliver.

I will allow that the location is good, and the rooms, spare as they were, were clean. The air conditioning did work. It is very close to the Opera House, and the neighborhood is safe enough. The staff was friendly, and tried to help as best they could, but I really can't recommend this hotel.

Maybe the general run of hotels in Manaus are all like this, but our experiences in Cuiaba, Sao Paulo and Foz do Iguassu were nothing like this.
