I stayed here for the World Cup. It is a budget hotel, so if you're on a budget (or out of of options as I was) - you can't go too wrong. Hotel is clean, but is clearly old with outdated decor and old room & bathroom fittings.
Front counter team were friendly, but almost no English was spoken. It wasn't a problem though, they called me behind the counter and we used google translate on the hotel computer to great effect :)
Rooms are clean but basic. Free wifi in the room worked perfectly and I had no connection issues. Bathroom was clean. Water pressure was strong, making for a good shower. Toilet paper isn't just single ply - you can blow a hole through it.
The safe in the room was not operational and although they did have a safe downstairs that could be used, the compartments were too small to fit much other than a small camera and passport (and it's not convenient to use).
There are some shops directly opposite & next to the hotel and while I was there some markets up the side streets too (not sure if these are there normally). I did not see anywhere to eat in safe walking distance.
You can easily walk to the port from the hotel (to catch the many day trips offered on the river).
Breakfast room is basic and breakfast included some cereals, quite a wide selection of fruit, some baked goods and a few hot dishes (eggs, bacon).
Rating is based on it being a budget hotel, ie. average for a budget hotel.

But no tea making facilities in the room. Reception was pleasant. The only English speaking guy behind the desk seemed to be always suppressing some private joke he couldn't stop thinking about. Maybe it was just me! But he was very helpful. Location is very good in the old centre not far from the port. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast had normal hot breakfast fare in a buffet arrangement. Plus lots of breads and cakes. Most of which I didn't particularly like. Lots of fruit. Fried bananas , a sort of rolled up rice pancake that didn't taste much of anything. Plus a toaster that could only do two slices of bread a time but took twice as long as a normal toaster. Buy a big plate Alan Partridge style because the plate size given is only slightly larger than a saucer. There's a games room on the top floor with a pool table and some other table games. Went there during the world cup and paid about £120 per night. Which is way more than they can usually charge.

Stayed at the Hotel Lider this past week as part of a group. The rooms with full beds are very small, but some rooms have 3 beds - two singles and a double- plus a table. The bathrooms are adequate. They have blow dryers, shampoos and soaps. Compared to its sister hotel, the Crystal, the Lider is much better. The breakfast has decent variety. The wi fi was very bad. It was out much of the time we were at the hotel. Also, the air conditioning units are very noisy. One of the most annoying things about Manaus, is not being able to dispose of toilet paper in the toilet. You would think they would at least have covered trash cans, but they don't. Manaus is not a wonderful place to visit, but the Lider is adequate if you are not staying very long.

Room Tip: Rooms with double beds are very small. Rooms with three beds are much more comfortable.

Room Tip: Melhor não ficar nos quartos da frente para a Rua Sete de Setembro. Os motoristas manauaras adoram buzinar.
