“Dinner before The Jungle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2014 via mobile

It was a little hard to get to but that was purely City Guides fault. Follow the address. Opens at dinner (6:30), so if you get there a little early stop by Pizza e Bessa (6 PM open).

Very good service, takes its fine dinning seriously, the food was well prepared....deserves its no. 1 ranking in Manaus. The desert menu was not very impressive but i was too full by then so maybe that skewed my opinion. Definitely worth a visit especially if Jungle action is afoot.

“Outstanding.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

Ate here on my first night in Manaus in June 2014. It was one of the better dining experiences I had in Brazil. Their Pirarucu is prepared to near perfection, and you can choose numerous different ways to have it prepared. It is an incredibly good value for what it was - we left the place stuffed and had some of the best capirinhas (made with pureed fruit) I've ever had to the tune of about $35 per person. Only drawback was that the service was pretty slow - I think we arrived around 6 p.m. and left around 9 p.m. - but the food more than makes up for it. Make sure you arrive around 6ish to avoid the crowds.

“Best food in Manaus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Manaus to say the least is not a great culinary city, this was the first restaurant we visited in Brazil
and it went downhill from Banzeiro until we arrived in Rio. We had a lovely palm heart salad and our first of many tambaqui "stews". This was the best of them. the service was very attentive, highly recommend

“Best food I had eaten in Brazil during my two weeks holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Since Manaus isn't a gastronomy heaven, and had visited a few random restautants in the centro the previous days, this was a wonderful surprise. The staff was very attentative and friendly. The food was delicious, but a bit heavy as it always seems to be in Brazil. We had as a starter chef's recommended ant (yes the insect) entre and as a main course duck risotto. It was probably the best meal I had eaten during my two weeks stayin Brazil and there was more than enough risotto for two persons. We paid 225 Reais for two persons dinner including the service fee, had entrees, main courses, small bottle of wine and two dessert coctails. Just to give you an estimate of the prices. I would go again if in Manaus and would like to try piranha fish meal next.

“Best in the City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

In a city were culinary cuisine is pretty much the same from restaurant to restaurant, Banzeiro was a refreshing change packed with deliciousness. We visited during the World Cup, on a Friday night, without reservations. During our 45 minute wait we downed a few refreshingly sweet Caipirinhas. As our appetizer, we gulped a few of their famous Tacaca soups. And as a main I had the Tambaqui in wine sauce. Everything was so delicious and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend!!
