if you love exotic street foods or watch Anthony Bourdain. This you tube video of Bourdain explains it all. Food stall was clean, and showed plaques of winning the best tacaca for years in running. It is located right in the center square, on the side of the African house. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCeK65ikR7A

“Best Tacaca in Manaus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2012

What is Tacaca? A local soup, containing "Jambu" leaves, "Tucupi" sauce, and dried salted prawns, all well boiled in big pots. This is dished out into a "cuia" - natures own grown soup bowl, and served hot. Wow! A treat! Locals eat it when feeling in need of something to strengthen them and pep them up, like a busy hard working week, recovering from a wild night, or trying to beat a cold/flu trying to catch them. It will heat you up, numb your mouth (due to the special Jambu leaves!), and let you chance a little of the Amazon indian heritage. It is something like garlic: you either love it, or hate it. Most love it, me included! Try it!
