This was literally the only hotel we could find during the US v. Portugal World Cup match, so we were stuck staying here. One of our rooms was on the first floor and was air conditioned, had warm water, strong wifi and housekeeping service. I would give that room 3 stars. The other two rooms were single beds on the 2nd and 3rd floors (no elevator), with rooms barely larger than the single beds; ugly bathrooms with no warm water; fans; no housekeeping; and spotty/non-existent wifi. All of the windows from these rooms had bars on them and opened only to the interior hallway. I described my room on the 2nd floor as my prison cell. Had to ask for towels.

But the rooms were clean and safe. And the key was one of the coolest keys I've ever seen. Breakfast was decent (eggs, fruit, rolls, coffee). The area was safe to walk in during the day, esp. during the week (emptier on the weekends). It's only about 5 blocks from a good craft market and about 10-15 minutes from the Teatro area. But at night we took a taxi directly to the door. I would not have felt safe walking around at night.

Given a choice of places to stay in Manaus when it's not packed with World Cup fans, I would not choose to stay at Hotel Ideal again (it is not, in fact, ideal). If I were to ever come back and it was literally the only hotel available, I would stay there again since ultimately it was safe and clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 1st floor, as well as one with air conditioning

The staff was friendly, and there was free wi-fi. Wi-fi worked poorly in the room. There is no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep. There were no towels and no toiletteries, not to mention hair-dryer. Only cold water in the shower. You get the towels when you ask for them, but not the rest. Hotel is in a very poor condition, shabby, and though it is clean, it does not really look like that. The vicinity of the hotel is not so appealing as well, but the Opera House is in the walking distance.
The breakfast was OK: fresh bread, scrambled eggs, juice and fruits.
The price is really good, and that makes hotel attractive. My advice is: if you can afford, choose something else, otherwise it may be a choice.

stayed in two different rooms on different levels and had major issues with mosquitos. breakfast is just eggs. people behind the desk were helpfull and friendly. never felt unsafe in the area. highlight was meat sticks being sold at the end of the street.

I was surprised by how blinded I was by the low rate. No A/C in Manaus, AMAZONAS. There's a HUGE fan where you can only turn on to max speed. The only window opens to the halllway with no mosquito screen.

Didn't get any sleep at all. Thankfully my flight was early in the morning so I would have had to wake up at 2am anyway. And at least I got a good shower.

Hotel Ideal is a perfect choice for those on a budget or, like me, just on an overnight. The rooms are very simple, the staff is very helpful and the breakfast is fresh. The hotel has both wifi and some wired computers for guests to use. They also have lockers to store luggage and very reliable transfers in and out of the airport.

I booked the cheapest one (room 102) for my first night in and then decided to splurge (room 101) for my last night out. The difference in price was about 5 dollars and the better room had air conditioning and a balcony.

Room Tip: Look for local tour guide James O'Reilly, known to the locals as "Aurelio". He's s...

The hotel is cheap and clean enough, but the rooms are basic. The hotel is not in the best area, but it is a budget option. All that said, I would stay closer to the Amazonas Theater (The opera house) if I was you.

Just a cheap room for a nights sleep. Not in a great location unless you are getting dropped off and picked up before an amazon tour.

Breakfast was ok, bed was ok, hotel was safe and clean.
