Ambrosia is a the quintessential rural Wisconsin tavern - great food, inexpensive drinks, and a local cultural experience. Some visitors from big cities might think the restaurant lacks some atmosphere, but I have lived in many big cities and I disagree. The place oozes small town Wisconsin cultural.
The food is always great and the portions are more than generous. Although the menu does not include a lot of fresh veg and fruit, it includes many home made items (soups, salads, and real mashed potatoes). Comfort food items are numerous.
The drinks are inexpensive and well made. There is always at least one tap dedicated to the local brew from Central Waters Brewery, an award winning brewery located just around the corner.
All the serving staff live in the community or return after their last semester at college. They are friendly and well trained.
The only warning I would give is to come early on Friday to avoid the Friday night fish fry crowds. Fish fry is served every day so we often go for fish on Saturday.
I don't think you will be disappointed with what you find at Ambrosia!
