Well, having been there as a child I somehow had higher expectations. It's quite far from the centre and a part from the Church there's nothing else to see round the area. The "thanks room" seems to be smaller than in the past. Again, maybe just an impression. I was expecting more "bahianas" dressed in typical white costumes selling acarajé, tapioca etc, some place to have a coffee or "agua de coco". There was nothing. Our visit lasted 15mins. I much preferred the churches in the Pelourinho.

“Beautiful church”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

Really liked the church, but there are too many people trying to sell you all sorts of stuff, so you feel a little unconfortable saying "no, thanks" all the time.

“Must to see in Salvador”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

I have visited this church many times but I always find something new every time I go there. Salvador is is busy city but once you enter the church you feel the peace.

“Not the best.”
Reviewed 2 August 2013

Would not go out of my way to see it again, but I was glad to learn the real meaning of the word Bonfim...good ending to a dangerous trip.
